So for Chirstmas my parents got me a Redhead Pursuit rifle scope with the illuminated recticle 3-9x40. I wanted the Redfield 3-9x40 but apperntly Bass Pro was out when they went there. I have a remington 700 sps in .243 that has yet to be shot and I only go rifle hunting a few times a year in Maryland so nothing over a 300yrd shot so the rifle will be used for a lot of paper. I like that the Redfield is made in the us and all and that leupold owns them so i'm assuming a good product but its still on the cheap end of scopes so a) should I return the Redhead? and b) if so should i get the Redfield

Thanks
Zach

"...like that the Redfield is..." Rumour has it that Redfield's QC has gone down. Leupold does own 'em though.
RedHead scopes are made in China and is Bass Pro's 'house' brand. Whether or not you return it is up to you, of course.

.243 has very low recoil the scope will do fine, enjoy your gift and when you do go hunting and get something you can thank your parents.

Put the Redhead on your .243 and show your parents how great it looks. It obviously means enough to them to go to the store and get it for ya. Otherwise they could have just gotten you a gift card. It's a gift, you're no worse off for havin it. If you don't like it, buy your own. Then you'll be able to tell us a little something about Redheads and Redfields. My guess is that you will/should like the Redhead, especially since the price was right.

Nikon prostaffs are good, as are Redfields, I have a new Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 BDC but have yet to mount it.
If your parents won't get upset I would get a Nikon or Redfield, I think the Nikons lenses are better though, I did choose one over the other after all..
Redhead scopes are not quite up to spec.

I'd return it and buy one of the Burris FFII's on sale for $119 at SWFA. Much better optically than the Redfield or a Nikon Prostaff, and they are at one heck of a great price.
