Should I seek professional help?

I absolutely can not STAND the grip angle on glocks, but I shoot them well. It just doesn't feel comfortable to have to crank my wrist forward down to get the sights to align properly on target.

So then why the heck do I keep wanting one?

Is this some sort of twisted mental illness? Is it a type of handicap? Should I seek professional help?

The biggest reasons to buy a gun in my book, regardless of price, is how well you can shoot it and how well it feels in your hand when you point/shoot it.

With 50% of of those qualifications not met, with any other gun I would not even consider them again... So... what gives???

Change the grip angle. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself then there are plenty of gunsmiths that will do it for you.

I am not a huge Glock fan either, great guns but I don't care fore the manual of arms or the trigger or the grip.................but I shoot them extremely well. Its one of those cruel jokes of the gun gods.

I own a G26, I am not proud of it but I do own one and shoot it extremely well.

I'm in the same boat, as I believe I've mentioned before. The Glock is a stout pistol, I shoot them very well, but damned if I can make myself like their feel in the hand.

They're not good-looking anyways (they look like another tool on a cop's duty belt), so put a dremel to it and fix that grip. Sand down the edges when you're done, don't overdo it.

Do they actually have a "catalog" of different variants of the same gun? More specifically, of what frame colors are available? I spent over an hour on their website going through it page by page and couldn't find anything...

I guess it's part of the sickness!

I like Glocks for their reliability, and simplicity of design & operation, despite their being ugly

Price and availabity of of spare mags is second to none. But since I don't shoot them well they are not for me despite most everything else being right with them.

I shoot them well to the point that if we were ever going to war against unarmed paper silhouettes I'd clean house, but since I carry daily, if the moment of truth came up where I had to draw down on a bad guy, I'd rather be concentrating on what he's doing that whether my wrist is cranked down far enough so that if my natural point of aim is pointing at center mass that I don't pop him a 3rd nostril if I have to shoot him!

There are 'smiths that can change it to a more American grip angle. Bowie Tactical is one of them. Looks to be about $125: Clicky
A springfield XD will give you glockish reliability with a more 1911 type grip angle.

Only big difference between his grip and mine is that I extend my index finger on the weak hand to rest on the front of the trigger guard.

I am definitely well versed and trained in the proper handling of a handgun, having been in the USMC Reserves as an MP, and having been a full time police officer at the same time - it's not a training issue. I grip all my other firearms the same way and have no issues with the sites naturally falling into place when I point at the target. Glocks, on the other hand, when I point, the front site is up a lot higher than that of any of the other pistols.

IMHO best ergonomics in a plastic gun is the new S&W M&P. The interchangable backstraps let you get three different grip feels. I prefer the middle size that came installed on mine, but I had to try the other two just to be sure.

The cranked wrist angle goes back to ISU target shooting. The European thought is that if you have to consciously bend your wrist down, it is more stable and consistent than a neutral angle with little muscular tension required to line up the sights.

When shooting fast and one-handed, my Glock 19 points a little high, and I've had it for almost nine years. Since the target is large and close when doing such shooting and I still get good hits, I have learned to not let it bother me. It doesn't seem to happen when shooting two-handed and/or at greater distances.

Possible alternative: the S&W M&P. I have a 9mm compact that has functioned perfectly from round one, and have even described it in past writings as a "better-feeling Glock."

I have 2 Glocks.a G32/23 and a G27/33,I write them like that because I have both 40 and 357sig barrels for both guns.My G32 has a Robar grip reduction.I don't know the cost as I bought it that way.My G33 had a reduction done by Arizona Response Systems,it cost $175 incl. return shipping,and took 2 weeks.Brownells has a pdf tutorial on how to do it yourself,url at the bottom.I also can't stand the grip angle,and that's why I went this way with my Glocks.Good luck,the do-it-yourself version doesn't look too hard,I just didn't have the time...

Here is how I feel.

OK, so you hate the grip angle, many people do. It doesnt make you an outcast. The fact here does remain that you shoot this gun very well (according to your post).

Now...all things considered, I would rather trust my life to a gun I didnt like, but performed well with over a gun that I liked and couldnt shoot worth a darn.

W.E.G. just nailed it...that grip, as presented, is the must-hold fashion of a Glock. Also, get it up high...even to the eyes, then bend ever so slightly forward to bring it down to torso firing angle.

I think I would be lost without the diversity of my collection. I don't shoot as well as I used to because I fire all of my pistols, but I shoot all of them equally well.

Just my opinion but if you have to go through a checklist with a handgun to hit a target on a range you're gonna die in a gunfight with that weapon .
