Should I trade the following :
Hk-91 German NIB , 2 FALs spartan NIB, 2 XCR pistol NIB
For
Barrett M107A1 ?

You have 5 guns that you don't use(NIB). If you will use the Barrett I say go for it. That being said I can't remember the last time I shot my 99. Meanmrmustard is right they are a niche gun.

Emotion aside. Do the numbers
NIB Barrett $12,000?
Rough value of 5 guns 11,700
Difference 300

The value of the weapons is about even today. If you are wanting to have a Barrett M107A1 to keep long term go for it.

BUT from and investment point of view I think that now is a bad time to do this deal. IF Obama is reelected there will be an other "buy it before he bans it" run on military style. firearms. Your HK91, Fal and XCR pistols will increase in value at a higher rate than the Barrett.

The market for $12,000 dollar 50 caliber rifles is limited to start with. It is unlikely that the Barrett M107A1 will increase in value to a $20,000 price. Too many Barrett rifles and to too few buyers for $20K a toy that have not all ready bought one.

It is possible that the HK-91 could bring $5000 = 5000
The FALs may be able to bring $ 3500 a piece X2= 7000
The XCRs may be able to bring $2200 X2= 4400
total= 16400
current= 11700
Differance= $4700

If there is not a run on guns after the election you would still be able to make this deal. If there is a run on guns you could make out handsomely. I think my numbers are close, but they could be adjusted. It really comes down to what you think the market will bare.

XCR pistol $1500? X2 = 3000
FAL Spartan $2600X2 = 5200
Hk91 $3500? = 3500

Total $11,700

Barrett M107A1 12,000

Difference $300

The answer lies in another question: "What are my guns for?" When you answer that one, you'll know if it's a rational trade.

I wouldn't unless you are specifically going to use it for a distinct function and will use it a lot.

Investment purposes, the five other pistols can be sold incrementally as you find buyers looking for them and willing to pay up.

You need to find a very targeted buyer for that Barrett.

Good luck.

NO WAY!! If you just MUST have .50BMG, there are others that you could get without trading away 5 guns that are way more practical to own. But that's just my opinion.

I wouldn't trade. You might actually get some use out of the others... Plus, the Barrett is going to be harder to sell when you're tired of it.

Not a chance.

But I would sell the HK91 because it's way overpriced. Replace it with a PTR91 for $1,000. Profit is $2500. Same gun.

i wouldn't. Theres alot of very well written posts above and nothing I can mustard can compete. I agree with the above post of no deal.

Why trade when you obviously have the $ to buy it outright considering you have 5 high buck NIB firearms already?

^This. Honestly, five rifles like that are very hard to come by. Whatever job you have, we need to trade, cause I wish I had your dilemma. But in all seriousness, don't trade, especially on the XCRs. Honestly, I've been around the block a couple of times (or so I thought), and I've never seen (or heard of, for that matter) the XCR pistol. Don't trade. You'll regret it later.

I would have to say no but IMO, it would be based on what else I had. If all I had was the weapons you speak of and nothing else then I would say no as I would much rather have 5 guns than 1. However, if I had other things in my collection and I always wanted the ultimate long range gun, then sure I might do that. As someone else stated the overall value of them all is pretty much equal. However, I think $12000 for one gun is absolutely crazy and I think it is ridiculously overpriced for what it is but to each his own. You may also want to keep in mind that you are going to have some nice glass to put atop that nice rifle which means spending another $1000-$3000 easy.

I have a 50 BMG and love it. The thing to remember is if you do not reload, they can get expensive to shoot. I like the Barrett 107A1, but most who buy them hardly ever shoot them. Do you have somewhere that you can stretch the 50's legs? 1000-2000 yards? It is a caliber that everyone needs to shoot at least once in their life, but most don't need to own. I personally would not part with my 50 for anything. I would think on it before you trade, and try to figure out if it will benefit you or if it is just to say " hey I got a 50bmg".

Everybody differs, but if it was me I'd keep the five guns. As somebody said, sell the HK-91 to one of HK's fans. They'll snap it up, especially if NIB.

I used to own one, and I wish I still had it so I could sell it for big bucks. LOL

But in the end, it's up to you. If you have a place to shoot a .50 BMG, it might be worth it to you. My advice, which is worth every penny you're paying for it, is to wait until after the election as others have said.

I have an AR I might sell if the hysteria returns, or if real bad things occur rather than rumors. Next month my rifle might be worth more than it is right now.
