Should I wait for a better deal on Ammo ?

I see 9mm advertised for $250 per 500 rounds from 2 or more of the regular suspects, in emails this past week. I was offered a 20 dollar discount just for mentioning our beloved forum to the owner of Weapons world, which even though I didn't purchase was a nice gesture on his part.
Don't be afraid to mention THR, it carries some clout with online retailers, I was speaking to the woman who takes the orders "just shooting the breeze", and THR came up in conversation, next thing I know she says the boss wants to talk with you. Long story short he seemed like a nice guy, and was eager to sell a THR member some ammo, I had just purchased some of that Liberty 50 grain stuff and my order had gotten messed up so he offered me a deal on more 9mm.
They know who we are so mention the forum in conversation and you may get a discount, "may not" but I didn't do it for that reason, it just came up when we were talking about where I shop and how I found out about them.

Mostly just M2 Ball from the CMP (.50/rd.). It is a non-profit organization, as most realize.

Based on "gunbot", 7.62x54R was down to .20/round last night.
These are the only two types I would buy for a good while, unless a certain ammo price is approx. what it commonly sold for in '10-'11 or such and we need it now.

In a few weeks it won't be much fun to shoot (outside) anyway -down south- wearing hearing protectors.
So why hurry to put more beer/gas money in the flippers' wallets for most other ammo types?

As many have said I would counsel waiting until the prices are near what they used to be. 9mm ran .20 to .23 a round. So paying more than .30 is kind of crazy.
And my experience to is that Wallys world has the most reasonable prices when they have it. Cabey has had some reasonable and not so reasonable prices.
Get to know what the ammo should cost and keep an eye out for decent deals.

WAIT!!!! Ammo prices are falling now and will continue to do so. One LGS in my area has been dropping prices weekly as stuff has started coming in and not been going back out the door immediately. If everyone held out for a few weeks we would see a dramatic increase in supply followed by an equally dramatic decrease in price. Keep in mind supply and demand works both ways.

Prices are dropping for sure but I don't expect them to be like it used to be. I kind of see it like gas prices have been. We had the spike but now it pretty steady. Just wishing it was 2005 prices again :)

If you are truely comfortable with the amount of ammo you have then you should wait. If you feel like you should have more, then get it so you don't have to worry about how long before the prices come down to where you want them. In the mean time, think of other things that there could be a shortage of and stock up on them before the prices and availability get out of control. Things like food and water and survival gear.

I am still buying when I find it at Walmart or Academy Sports. If I can then resell it for more than I paid I will do it. If not, I just keep it. You can never .have too much since it basically has an indefinite shelf life and it will remain in high demand considering the current political environment. Prices go up and down over the short term but long term you won't lose money on ammo.

Unless you are just running low, I would wait. Remington is expanding their ammunition manufacturing which will help some. Things are slowly returning to a more normal state. It will still take more time. But by all means if you find a deal on ammo, buy it up and shoot it out... The deals while are being more frequent than the previous few months, are still few and far between.

I forgot how cheap it WAS...

Back in Sept 2012 I bought 20rd boxes of PMC bronze .223 for $4.59 a box. I was packing some stuff and found the receipt in an old box. That was when Cheaper than dirt was actually cheaper than dirt.

I think when everyone stops stocking up because of a perceived shortage things will go back to normal. Even hunters are buying just A few extra boxes of their favorite ammo. just in case. It adds up to A lot of ammo. Quit buying at these prices. It will come down. JMHO.
