I'm not wanting to create a problem, but all the .22 ammo threads seem to be closed.
It had been a long time since I had priced .22. I got tired of being told the absurd amount each time I asked.
Yesterday at a local small gun shop, I bought 50 rds. of Blazer for $2.49 (got 4 boxes). American (Federal) was the same price. CCI 50 rds. were $9.99. I'll take 4 boxes in place of one anyday.
The Blazer comes to less than five cents a round ! They had a hugh supply and no limit !:D

I have not seen any .22LR for sale since the Sandy Hook massacre, except an for occasional box of target ammo for like 40 or 50 cents per round. The target ammo has been this year; last year I never even saw a box of that.

I picked up 3 different brands at 6 cents a round from Sportsmans warehouse the other day. They had 3-4 pallets of it. This was a grand opening sale in Colorado, so it may have been the exception.

Uh wake me up when I can walk up to the counter at WW and buy 100 rounds of Mini-mags for less than $7.00 and 50 Thunderbolts for a buck.

It has come down somewhat. I check this every month or so: http://ammoseek.com/

I tell it just to look for 22 LR and they tell you the price per round and give links to each source. Today, you have some unlimited choices at $.08/round and a lot at $.09/round. A few months ago it was $10/round and a year ago it was even worse.

So I think it is slowly getting better, but some places must be receiving some large orders to sell it so cheap. 22LR is easily available mail order if your store shelves are bare, and it will be cheaper in most cases unless it is one of those large pallet sales in the box store.

At a gun show in Greenville, SC, I picked up $2,000 rounds of CCI Mini-Mag for $200, back in the early summer. I already had some, so I'm good on .22LR. I was really excited to find it, and would have bought more if I could have carried it all. with my other packages.

I haven't seen it since then, but not really searching these days.

I'm hoping to see mini mags regularly on the shelf ASAP for less than 9 cents a round as I'm getting a semi 22lr hand gun soon and would like somthing to feed it other than cci sv and Remington garbage

Saw a report on another forum that Wally's is ceasing the sale if all rimfire ammo. Not a problem, as I haven't seen it there in years, and I have long since used other means to get it. Just means more business for the LGS stores and online vendors.

When my friend that owns a sport shop got his first 22 in after the big shortage LOL his cost of a 50 round box had gone up a whopping 45 cents from prior to the shortage. Just shows how greed controls things.

He has not had much on his shelf at any time. I have not asked him how his cost compares now.

Tom, also west MI here... I picked up .22 gun collecting and shooting less than 10 years ago, when Dunham's had Blazers @ 2 - 500 rnd bricks in 50 rnd boxes for $32.00 + tax...
I still refuse to pay 10 cents/rnd now, but have bought a few MiniMags for .09/rnd....
Not much profit margin, so not much incentive to produce and supply it.
Now I collect more and shoot less... sad

You are in for quite a sleep, especially on the $.02 per round Thunderbolts. Mini Mags I have bought for close to that price in the past year.

The Mods pretty much shut down all the 22 LR shortage threads fairly quickly. They let them run for a short time and then zap them because we would eventually just have all threads about 22 LR.

I have had no trouble at all keeping my inventory at a comfortable level. I have NOT paid $35 a brick for Remington Golden or any other "plinking" ammo. Virtually all has been at reasonable prices delivered to my door. A couple of months ago I lucked up and got three bricks of Federal Premium at Walmart. Right before that I found Stingers at a different Walmart but those are the only two instances of finding affordable 22 LR at a local store since December of 2012.
High prices are more a result of middle men and profit taking than of any increase of the actual cost from the manufacturer, though I am certain that has happened to a lesser degree as well. I have nothing against making as much profit as the market will bear. Apparently it has been bearing quite a bit lately.
I predicted the .223 shortage would last a few months. I predicted the 22 LR shortage would last a year at most. Whoops!

^ yeah the long sleep ;) in 09 I was paying $6.50 for mini-mags and started regular buying because the local WW didn't have any .380acp.

Right now I'm sitting on about 2k of .22lr and that's fine because since 09 I've shot maybe a 100 rounds tops.

For about the last month or so, Walmart had had 22 in stock in DFW. I go there about twice a week. 525, 333, and 100 count at times, and 50 count each time. Blazer is their latest 50 count brand.

I get some light strike FTFire with the Blazer. $2.47 for 50 though.

I have seen .22 in at least 4 different stores around me but the last time I bought .22 it was less than $8/500.

For me ~$0.05/round for bulk pack is my "buy it now" price. Been finding it pretty regularly at gun shows or the local Academy (the one box limit means I only look when I'm there for something else).

At $0.08+/round its been easy to find around here for quite some time.

We've cut way back on shooting .22lr since Sandy Hook and made what I had on hand last, although we're low enough now with cooler weather approaching that I have a "buy it" price threshold established.

Historically (pre-Sandy Hook), the bulk pack .22lr price per round at about 1/4th the price of the cheapest 9mm FMJ is about right, hence my five cent per round trigger price.

Cabelas and Academy here regularly have it. I have even found it at Dicks where I paid around $30 for a 525 rem. I have around 5000 rounds on hand. I don't even go out of my way to look for it anymore. I also don't limit my range shooting of 22lr although I probably shoot more 9 and 40 which I load.

No .22's in the walmarts on the east side of dfw. At least not when I have been there.
saw a brick in Plano a few months back, but left it for someone who may not have any. I have strongly curtailed .22 shooting also. Was shooting a brick+ a month prior to panic.

I guess it's almost time to stock up again. Haven't bought any in 10 years.

Is CCI MM down to .05 yet without limits? Best price I can find is .015. I'm hoping someone here will post when it gets there.

Might have to buy a few cases when it does. Online of course to dodge the sales tax. ;)

About a month ago I checked @ a W*M in Goldsboro NC. I was actually amazed to see they had 22 LR ammo. Granted they only had 2 boxes of the Winchester left. Without going to dig them out I want so say they are the 325 or 333 round boxes. I bought both of them and they were around 17.00 and change each.

Palmetto State Armory just sent me two 500rd bricks of CCI Std Vel for $87. It is slowly coming down in price. My Walmart? Forget it. They have an unlimited purchase policy. Haven't seen any on the shelves for almost 3 years.
