I did search old threads, and the last shoulder rig discussion was too old for me to reply, so...

I was considering a shoulder holster in order to carry a larger gun, but many posts in that other thread said it works better with smaller guns. I would like to be able to conceal my P229 more easily. It is my favorite gun out of the 3 but it is too bulky for most of the IWB holsters I have tried. So unfortunately it gets left home too often in favor of the .380.

I didn't see many opinions on shoulder carry for women. I was hoping someone's wife/girlfriend/acquaintance had some experience they could pass along.

I dress business casual most of the time, so I can wear a cover garment like a trendy jacket or cardigan. Would a shoulder rig work OK for my Sig?

(I haven't seen any at the local shops to try on)

It will really depend more on your size/build than what shoulder holster you buy. Its hard to conceal with a shoulder holster. If you are determined, im sure you could make it work. Galco makes some of the best. Doubt you will find one in stock to try on though. Visit corneredcat.com and see what the women there have to say.

Disclaimer: IANAW (I am not a woman) but I am married to one ... she commonly packs a (non-railed) SIG P-228 (basically the same pistol as your 229) in a Galco Miami Classic. She got the series II shoulder straps (wider than the ones that come in the package deal) and uses the upside-down snap-flap mag pouch. She orients the holster somewhat diagonally, about 30 degrees down at the mouth of the holster from horizontal, with the holster and mag pouches somewhat high under the arms. With her build (slim, but with long arms and a decently sized bosom, the rig conceals well under a light jacket or somewhat loose vest.

You can often find these holster sets in stock at gunshops and outlets such as Sportsman's Warehouse (Wholesale Sports), etc. Once you get the rig fitted, you have to cut off the excess length of straps (we spent an hour or so fitting her and getting it just right for her). Set retails for around $139 -159 with the thinner straps, but you can order or purchase the wider (more comfortable ones) separately...

TAKtical, I have done a lot of reading on that site, and The Well Armed Woman as well. TWAW only carries the Deep Conceal, which to me looks like a medical device (it may be comfortable as touted so it's not entirely out of the question. but it looks awful). Cornered Cat had some info but the writer didn't have direct experience. I tried to find something on Limatunes' site but the links were broken.

Old Dog, thanks. Would she mind sending a pic? If so I can PM you my email.

As for me, I am fairly straight up and down, not slender but not excessively ... padded.
