Hey there, post #2
I'll put my bio in this post I guess!
First rifle I have personally purchased, but 6th that I own (other 5 have been given to me from my family when my Grandfather past away). Remington 700 SPS DM in .308 Win. 200 rounds through her, still a little tight in operation but shoots pretty decent considering it's factory stock!
First "good" target. Group measures about 1.5"x1.5" @ 100 yards
Second "good" target. 4 shot group is about 1.5"x.50" @ 100 yards
These are shot with Federal Gold Medal Match 168 grain ammo @ 100 yards:
Four shot group (I wish it was a 5 shot group!) @ 100 yards
Really basic setup, and quite "cheap" too. Rifle came with the Cabela's brand scope which is, at best functional and not much more. I added the Rockford Mount Bipod which has been modified with new bolts to hold the legs in. The originals came out so they got replaced with ones with locking nuts!
This rifle has a future as a bench rifle and maybe a "tactical" rifle so I will obsessed with accuracy! Right now the first major fix is going to be a new stock!!! Unfortunately, money is a bit tight and I can't quite swing the price yet. My understanding is I'll have to buy another DBM system because I have the (horrible) Remington DM system which only adds to the cost. The next obvious step is replacing the Cabela's scope with something MUCH better.
Anyway, I guess I had better introduce me too! My name is Chris, you can call me Chris, or Whiskey, currently have spent the first half of my life shooting and spent 4 years as a NRA Certified Instructor at a Boy Scout camp in Nebraska teaching kids to shoot! I've shot more .22LR than I could possibly wish to, and I'm glad to move up in both range and caliber to my favorite caliber and second favorite bolt action
I recently started reloading, and thanks to this site have learned far more than I could have ever hoped from just reading manuals. I have obviously spent a long time lurking and reading and not much posting. I hope to change that!
I do also participate in some other shooting sports of the more "tactical" nature. Mainly that ever cursed "airsoft" which I have used to keep the need for tacticool down on my favorite shooting sports!
I'll just tease with a photo of my "pride and joy"
That is my evil "black gun" trainer. Disassembles like the real thing, trigger group like the real thing, bolt that is very convincing, and recoils like the real thing. It operates on external air like a paintball gun. It's a fun toy to mess around with and has taught me a ton about how AR15's function!
Anyway, I hope to become a contributing member here!
