i see a ton of posts showing off custom long range rifles, tactical shotguns and AR's, and 1911's...

but, i rarely see good custom revolver threads.

I dunna care if they're carry guns, double action, single action, long barrel or short, as long as they're not stock! ;) dont care if you made the changes or sent them off, id just like to see something new. call it for inspiration.

autos? come on man, this is the real gun section. :p

so, what did you do to that 1917? looks nice, had some work done to it?

id love to see new finishes, different barrels, etc... i remember seein a fella who cut the barrel down on his 586 to look like a model 19 snub. stuff like that!

Bet you haven't seen one like this:

DWScope.jpg

High Standard .357 (Dan Wesson M15 sold under the High Standard brand name in the early 70s) with a 6" "pork chop" barrel and a 1x Hudson Handgunner scope.

Hudson went out of business about 1975. They made pretty good scopes, as long as you didn't mind the clunky adjustable mount and the fact that the crosshairs weren't always exactly centered!

I have a few of the scopes that I got for an article I was writing for Guns magazine. Hudson went out of business about a week after I sent the article in. Just my luck....

This is an accurate little combo for small game.

I only shoot light .38 Special loads, since parts for the scope are in short supply!!

Have these two:

A 2" M15 that was hacked up by the previous owner, a rust speckled finish, and a misaligned front sight. Had it hard chromed, a fibre optic blade installed, and the timing fixed. Makes for a nice nightstand piece.

2nd was my first pistol, a Ruger .357 Blackhawk. After a lot of CAS shooting and more then a few years of fun desert plinking, I had David Clement convert it to .44spl and I fitted the brass grip frame and Altamont grips.

Here is my Ruger SBH .44 Mag. Had barrel taken down to 5", balances really nicely. Added the Weigand front sight so now with two different sight blades I can shoot low powered .44 Specials to full house 300 grainers. I spent a few hours with some Mothers Mag Wheel polish to shine it up a bit, want to do more. The grips are simulated ivory. It is a great field and woods gun and is very accurate with both .44 Specials and Magnum rounds. Bill

GUNKWAZY,

I LOVE your Python! Do you have any more pics of the barrel? Did you polish and then bead blast or bead blast then polish?

The Flamethrower Python was ported by Jet Power industries.
Flamed, polished & Jeweled by Magnum Mikes in Phoenix.
The grips are vintage Badger and the sights are patridge front and Ellaison adjustable rear.
Here's a better barrel pic as per request.

Base gun is an original model Colt Trooper(V spring). Tom Volquartsen added a 5" Douglas stainless barrel, with a heavy recessed square cut target crown. Tim at Carl Jarl refinished both the stainless barrel and carbon frame in an almost matching blue. I did the action job. Grips are Jordan style, fancy "tiger" walnut from Herrett.

KurtC - Who makes that speedloader and are they available in other calibers?

Here is my one custom revolver:

629-4 Backpacker with C&S Extreme Duty Sights and some other internal work. Grips are Ahrends.

They are the Variant speedloaders made in Germany. Besides launching the cartridges into the chambers, they are adjustable for cant to accomodate different chamfers and bullet ogives. The extension handles also screw off.

I believe they are available for most revolvers. They are expensive in Europe, and even more so on this side of the puddle. This pic was taken from one of their ads.

you can blue stainless?

Yes, but you have to "pickle" it 1st. That's an acid bath to raise the iron. The gun needs to spend some extra time with extra heat in the bluing salts.

The finish is more matt than you would expect if you have the stainless well polished, but that's due to the pickling.
