Fairly recent addition .. yet to get fully sighted in .... but looking forward to that process! (once this damn snow gets cleared out so I can get into range more easily!)

That's a Tasco Optima 2000 on the Ruger.
I have two of the Optima/Firepoint/JPoint sights.
That one still works.
The Docter Optics sight is similar but much superior-

-it is made of metal and glass rather than plastic.
That's what I'd use if I was doing it over again.
I have a Docter Optics sight but it is on a Marlin .357 carbine.
The Optima on the Ruger is wotking fine for now though and if it continues doing so I'll have no complaints.

Thx B27 ...... looks like a good site ..... am exploring that link.

Edit to add ...... oh my!! What a price - by the time you factor in mounts, it's around $400 . WOW! Very nice I am sure but ... heck, that's another gun!! I'll just see if I can cope with my cheapie red dots!

And I thought Leupolds were pricey ......... :p

P95-
That's just what the makers would LIKE you for you to pay.
;)
I got mine for $250 from www.arizonagunrunners.com though I see they have raised their prices.
I bet a search on the net would find them for about what I paid.
They have always cost about twice what the Optima/Firepoint/JPoint costs cause making them out of steel, brass, aluminum and glass costs more than making them out of plastic.
:D

B27 .... thx again. Yeah I admit I had not looked yet for the best pricing .... but found that EABCO (Arthur Brown) are doing the JPoint with mounts as a package deal for some guns ... but even those are priced at $200+ ... and another site had them shown at $179, without mounts but showing currently as not available.

Oh well ... as I said, for now anyways I'll struggle on with the ordinary ''dotties''! Spent way too much last year . and gotta keep it down a bit this year (''yeah - where have I heard that before! :p )

I'm starting to get ideas here as well. I have a ruger competition model so i already have any easy way to mount one. What would be a decent inexpensive sight? What kinds are there? This thread is about red dots, so stick to that if you want. I've never shot a scoped handgun so i dont know much about it.

If you want to spend less than $100, ADCO is developing a pretty good rep.
They started out making sights for paintballers but have moved more and more into the real gun market.

Also www.cdnninvestments.com frequently has good prices on odd lots of electronic sights. I got a Tasco PDP3 from them for $70.
It now lives on a 10/22 and has been an excellent performer.

Thanks. I guess these dont have any magnification? Just like a floating dot in a tube? I get the MOA stuff. What do most prefer? I'm thinking the smaller the better..

Thanks a lump, Standing Wolf for temporarily blinding me with the hideous hideocity of your HS there!;)
I've been tempted to do something like that with one of my HS but they look so beautiful as issued I'm afraid I might feel guilty.
I need to find one that is mechanically sound but a little beat up in the grips and barrel to modify into a gorgeous HS like yours.

For target work the smaller dot is indeeed better.
These dot sights generally have no magnification but there are a few models on the market that do.

Plastic... Accurate... P22... Trainer that everyone loves...

Well,l I TRIED to post a picture of my scoped P22 to no avail. If I can figure it out I'll get a pic in here. And for some reason I can't delete this post.
