show of your hog guns. Tell us why you have chose the particular rifle/pistol and why you like the caliber ! first one is my marlin 336 35 rem.that i parkarized then teflon coated the metal in a color called coyote. Camo dipped my stock in a camo called BONZ. It is my go to rifle . Love it . Does great on hogs. 2nd is my marlin guide gun 45/70. Couldn't bring myself to camo it. Liked it just the way it was. Makes one fantastic bacon slayer!

man i have always been curious about the 45 colt. especially with those hornady leverevolution loads or some hard cast loads from cor bon or something. Every time i run across one i am eager to buy it. How does it do? Good penetration ?

have used a 44 mag on them a few times. Got a lil ruger model 96 that does good. shot a few with my ruger redhawk 44 mag. Both make great hog busters

Nice looking hog guns here everyone. That 336 Marlin is a looker;) All I can say is "WOW".
Here's mine.
SANY1256.jpg

M1A-A1 Bush rifle and M14S Tanker.

The M14S is my primary/favorite hog slayin machine. Also use it to hunt deer. Sometimes use iron sights, and sometimes use optics off the Arms #18 mount.

My purpose built go to rifle using the following components...

Norinco parts = receiver, op-rod, bolt stop, cartridge clip guide, op-rod guide.

Barrel = Criterion (Kreiger) 18.5in chrome lined std contour.

Sadlak op-rod spring guide

SEI Vortex direct connect flash hider/ Gas lock (hooded) front sight.

USGI (NOS) = Everything else

Weight = 8.5lbs as pictured minus 20rd mag.

OAL = 39.5 in

Iron sight specs : rear sight aperture = standard USGI. Front sight post = 0.062 in. Sight radius = 21.25 in.

Optics not pictured, but have pretty much decided to go with a Weaver classic V 1-3x20 scope. Looking at a set of Leupold low QR rings, but am still undecided at this time.
I was using a Simmons 3-9x32/Savage low ring set up, but am looking at a true 1 power setting for dumpin the fast movers in the brush. 3x on the top end works well for me out at 400yds so far. I like to keep the optics as compact, lightweight, and low in profile as I can get um because I dont wanna use a "cheek riser" of any kind with this specific set up.

I modified the USGI synthetic stock by filling in the selector lever hole, hit it with some sand paper to get the final shape I wanted, roughed it up for paint, and blasted it with a few coats of Krylon Camo Brown rattle can. The handguard was painted using Krylon camo black just to give her a little 2 tone action.;)

I like the rifle and the caliber for dumpin hogs at any-wheres from the muzzle out to my longest one shot dump so far at close to the 400yd mark. Plenty of juice for any angle shots. The further out they are equals more time to wait for a "perfect hit", and am pleased with the results so far.

This rifle has already paid for itself in pork:)

got lots of guns in various calibers and ALL are hog guns. I prefer the .45 colt too, black hawk bisley 7 1/2 barrel with heavy loads favorite pistol, favorite rifle...any one in my safe.

Countryguy; The .45 Colt, in a "+P" loading (300 gr. gas check, hardcast lead, flatpoint) will shoot through anything you will encounter in North America.
I have had total penetration in a 1300 lb. Bison.
Even in a "moderate" loading of 1100 fps., 250 gr. Keith tupe cast bullet, the penetration is impressive.
As far as a "hog gun", I use a 250-265 gr. gas check cast, or a 250 gr. Hornady XTP @ 1050-1100 fps. No problems with any of these loads.

very impressive huntershooter. 45 colt may be my next toy. Bet those buffalo bore would be mean with their +P loads for that gun. Maybe i can find me a beat up lever gun around locally and restore it like i did my marlin 336.

fragout love the guns bud. One thing about it . if you are not a good shot with those open sights, you can throw enough lead out there , so that at least 1 of them is going to run into a load.haha very cool

A.R. 7.63x39 shot my 5 largest hogs to date with this bad boy!

gun looks sweet! Trying to get the AR bug myself. Recently purchased a 458 saum ar. Hoping to get it up and ready one day soon... may try one of those eotech sights on it and see how it does

Countryguy1982, that 336 looks awesome. I'm usually pretty traditional with leverguns, but you did a good job on that one. Where in North Ga are you located?

Ruger Red Label 45-70.........yes that is a 45-70.

It started life as a 20ga. Barrels were cut off at front of monoblock, new rifled ones sweated in, rib added, chambers reamed and the whole mess regulated to where she prints the barrels about 3/4 inchs apart at 50 yards.

Nice pigs RM.

We need to get together this fall when it cools off.... and go shoot a bit.

Either my place or Angelina. I've got plenty of rounds for the SOCOM loaded up.

shaggy430. I appreciate the compliments on the levergun. i am very traditional on my lever guns but everybody around here has a marlin in their gun cabinet.Took me forever to figure out what i wanted to do with it . Wanted something that nobody else had. I am located in Mineral Bluff Ga. you can check us out on our website www.liquadipgraphics.com. Got several pics of stuff me and my partner have done on there. some rough price lists etc. Have a ton of other patterns that are not on the website as far as the dipping end of it goes. the 2 major film companies in the U.S come out with all kinds of new stuff all the time and hard to keep up with them. also can do parkarizing and teflon coating. and let me tell you its tough. when i was putting my marlin back together, the magazine tube has a big long spring in it , and when i slid the magazine tube back on and reached for my barrel band, the tube flew off the gun and bounced across the concrete floor we got . i was literally sick to my stomache, i thought to myself man i spent 3 days on this gun and now i done went and scratched it all to hell. well ( knock on wood) didn't put a single mark on it. as far as the dipping end goes. Everone asks how tough is it? how close to factory is it. the answer is , it is factory. remington, mossberg, winchester, etc all bid off jobs to people all over the U.S. most of them do not do it in their gun plants. They send it elsewhere have it done. I am licenced to work for any of these companies and bud i will hook you up. Can do some wild stuff

LOVE THE RUGER RED LABEL . That is just awsome! am a huge 45/70 fan as well. Killed several pieces of bacon with one of those. Started out using a old beat up H&R single shot 45/70 and killed a ton of stuff with it with those 325 grain hornady leverevolution rounds and it just went from there. cool idea man and awsome gun

AR15 (half RR, half Bushy) topped with an ATN 6900 Crusader Gen 2+ night vision riflescope...for those late night hogs :D
