I recently picked up an SAI M1a Loaded after years of drooling. I have always loved Garands and M14s and I finally laid down the cash to get one. I've only had the chance to put a few rounds through it due to my club having the long range closed all winter(fingers crossed it's opening up soon).

I put a sling on it today. I ordered an RS2 from Rifle Craft. He makes excellent shooting slings if you haven't seen them.

So let's see your M1s get em out and show em off.

Me thinks U R confuzed! You talk about M1s ie: Garands and then show an M1A/M14 type rifle.
Yep they look similar, but that's the extent of it.
IF it is really Garands you are asking about here are some of mine, with an 03 on the left end. These are Springfield, Winchester, IHC, H&R and a Beretta. A couple have been rebarelled to 7.62 Nato.

I don't think I am confused. M1's (to me and most to folks I talk to about them) umbrellas Garands and M14s. My father and I have different names and different features. However, when we stand next to each other it is clear that one bore the other. I would say that it is the same for Garands and M14s.

That is one hell of a collection by the way. I am jealous.

OP,

I like your rifle. I also like the M1 rifles others posted.
You need to talk to some other folks though.

M1A are neat rifles, but they are not M1s.

kBob Story time......

While at The Citadel I and almost every other cadet had to keep an M-14 in an unlocked wooden rack in our rooms. (Members of the two drill teams kept M1903A3s instead and these appeared un molested at that time) The only thing "wrong" with these rifles was that the bolt was stripped. The extractor and spring, ejector and spring and firing pin were all removed. These parts were available from number of parts houses and some Cadets had a set squirreld away "just in case" and a magazine or two as well. One or two even had the selector assembly for conversion to select fire (most M14s had a "lock out" installed in place of the switch and trip and associated parts).

One upper classman I knew was a real "rifle crank" and shot whenever possible. He actually stored his M1 Garand he used for CMP matches in his car trunk. He took his Citadel issue M-14 to a match and did better than with his old M-1. So he switched out and for a bit kept the M1 in his room. As he was a Cadet officer he carried a sword to armed formations and no one noticed for several weeks, except me.

Oh Sistema 1927.

You know that is not really an M1, but and M1 A "Something" The original M1 had different exhaust vents and lacked that encased 120mm gun as they had the same 105 the late M60 series had.

Also the first M1s in service had fully lexan road wheel covers rather than the little bull's eye windows. You could see everything inside and not just check the fluid levels!

This is fun.
