Show us a picture of your reloading bench

I only load 38S&W, 38SPL, 357MAG so I need very little space. Sure makes it nice to only have one caliber.

Built my latest bench out of an extra 2" thick solid oak door I had. Probably 50 years old but as solid as they come (was an interior door from school). Not a big bench but neither is the room they are in. Have gun cabinet for guns that are out (not in safe, ones being used commonly then) with storage underneath. Then a reloading bench on the opposite wall, with shelves above it to the ceiling. I try not to keep to much of anything in there at one time, I keep most of my ammo and powder, primer etc locked up somewhere else. Just keep a box or two of everything where it is handy. Cannot have to many shelves. Or light. I like the white color of my benchtop, but it is just cheap white paint and gets damaged to easily. Going to have to figure something else out. I also like the powder measure mounted up off of the bench, and I can set my scale up there as well.

Side bench to the right is supposed to be for working on long guns. There are also a bunch of narrow shelves (so they don't get in the way of knees) underneath the benches for dies, and stuff you don't need too often. Along with case tumbler etc. Also shelves for tools in the cabinet doors. Did I mention you can't have to many shelves?

My little 'cave' is small but I have it designed for me to work effectively in it. Also helps that I only reload rifle, only have one press that I use (have another I can clamp to bench if I need another for swaging or whatever). I built a bench in this room before out of cheap particle board just to figure out where I wanted everything first.

Yes, CZ does make some very nice rifles. I'm surprised they haven't caught on more here in the US. I know I plan on buying several more.

Great thread. I need to built a bench... was into reloading in a big way for a few years and then moved nine years ago. Packed all my reloading stuff up and it has sat in a few boxes in the basement for nine years. Unpacked it all tonight.

Gonna have to clean things up a bit and then build a bench.

:)

question for cochise9424221

cochise9424221,

Is that a Lyman trimmer next to the Orange Crusher press you have modified to work with a lathe handle?

If so, does it help the trimming process or is purely decorative?

Building My Reloading Room

I have begun to build a room for something I have wanted to do most of my life but never made the effort to do it. I had a woodshop in the basement of our home and due to the mess it created, and the dust it spread throughout the home, I decided to subdivide the space into the ultimate man cave. The center section that you see (in the first pic) will be home to a regulation pool table. The section to the right that you cannot see is a condensed woodshop, mostly for turning pen and hand tool work. The wall you are looking at in the first pic is the new reloading room.

This bench is going to be for cleaning up the brass, and gun cleaning and maintenance.

And here is the reloading area.

Storage for die sets and primers

Storage for Powder

I still need to add more lights, storage shelves, paint the space, and maybe get some hunting pics up on the wall. Any suggestions, or criticism, would be welcome as I want to make the best use of this space.

Thanks!

Well, two years later, I was in need of an upgrade:

Finally I get to post to this thread! Ive been waiting for months, and I've finally got all my bits'n'pieces together.

The "bench" was a freebie with the exception of the 2x4 in the rear and associated hardware used to reinforce the table.

Took a couple months to build, but not having a router table makes cabinet work rather tedious. After all the time and money on the new bench, I most happy with the new stool! :)

nice!

what kind of stool is that? (i'm currently using an old target special 38" barstool....and after a couple of hours, my arse is killing me! that thing looks comfy!

IDriveB5, you have done good man. Your bench came out nice and you should be very happy with it, especially as you built it yourself. I actually just recently purchased a table for my router and couldn't have spent my money on a better item. Makes life much easier for me and have used it a ton since I got it.

IDrive, thats awesome.

How did you get the Dont Tread on Me graphic onto that board?

cbrgator- I printed off an 11x17 of the Gadsden Flag then cut it out and used it as a stencil for blue tape. Green for the grass, mask that off, then black, then mask, then yellow.

Winchester70- Thanks! wish I could dedicate an entire room for ultimate man-caveness though.
