As long as we're doing some competition grips...

These are from Randall Fung. They obviously don't need to be pretty to do the job, so I was pleasantly surprised at the nice grain and careful finish.

Very cool! Those Ruger grips are gorgeous! The barbed wire is definitely unique too. Thanks for posting them up!

Sure thing SRT.

preach,

You are correct, they are Stabilized Spalted Maple Burl from
Cary Chapman over at http://clccustomgrips.com.

I highly reccomend him.

The others are :

1911 - Walnut Burl w/inlaid barbed wire ...from forum member 'Mr. Science' over at 1911forum.com

GP-100 - Cocobolo inserts and Spalted Maple inserts from forum member '41 Magnum' over at Rugerforum.com

.44 SBH - Stabilized Spalted Sycamore also from Cary Chapman

I've become extremely partial to Patrick Grashorn's (Grashorns Gun Works) American Elk Stag grips, and I'm steadily putting them on my guns.

Here are a few:

Here's the ones I got for my Model 36 . . .

And both guns together, with another still to be equpped . . .

Here's my latest set, for a Model 19 Nickle plated . . .

And on the gun . . .

And I still use a few Hogues too:

Hogue Camolamo on my S&W 29-5 (shown on a Piebald Whitetail buck's hide I took with the .44 magnum):

and a Model 65-3 with S&W Rosewoods:

I LOVE my Volquatzen competition "rubbers" on my Ruger Mk II Target .22 too . . .

These are Esmerelda grips on my BHP's, I have another of her 1/2 checkered Cocobolo on another BHP but don't seem to have a pic on photobucket.

And though they may be plain, there is something special about GI style bakelite grips on a no-frills 1911, even it is a modern Springer mil-spec:

Yep, or a Springer GI45.

Nice! It looks especially good with honest holster wear. Mine has gotten a little better in that regard since I took the photo a year and a half ago, though it still doesn't have as much character as yours ;) .
