Beautiful Cochinchinc burl. The block was "green" when I bought it over a year ago. I've been patiently waiting for the moisture to regulate so I could cut into it without shrinking and such. It was worth it. Not only is there great burl pattern, but also a really cool curly figure in there. Beeeeeautiful stuff!
Enjoy!

Something unique for today.....
I found some Trustone blanks in the shop left over from my pen turning days, and decided to use them in grips. This is the first of 4 sets to use the 4 different colors I found. White marble set in Beeswing Narra. The others are green Malachite in Wenge, Turquoise in Mesquite, and Red Jasper in a wood I haven't chosen yet. Trustone is billed as 90% real stone crushed and put back together with resins for better workability and toughness. Definitely different!

I like two wood grips. The contrasts in color and figure/graining is beautiful. This set is done in Bubinga (an African hard wood) and good ol' curly Maple.
Enjoy!

Tim,
I have some spare time scheduled for the spring of 2010. Thank you for sending them, that was very generous. I will try them out and play with them soon.

Amazing grips everyone. I had to go back to the first page twice just to go through and drool over them all again.
SRT1 You do some amazing work with these exotic woods. Beautiful!
I hope this hasn't been asked already, but can you or will you do revolver grips? I would love to get some monogrip shaped grips for my N-frame in anyone of the spalted/burl woods you use.
These are the ones that it had when I bought it used. Good color, but they could be more comfortable.
A set of EMP grips from a Maple Burl cut inside to outside. Beautiful transition as you go from the burl "heart" to the lighter, curly figure of the outer portion. Very cool.
Enjoy,

Again with the checkering. Ugh. :banghead:
I'm taking pics tonight of a set that stippled. I really think it will make people think about it over checkering when they see it. We'll see. I did it last night and the feel in the hand is SCHWEET!
Pics of a set with stippling on the Wenge (dark wood) on one grips and on the Maple on the other grip. This stippling feels about like 120 grit sandpaper and is great for a good grip, but doesn't tend to snag clothing.

Some of the more classic looking English Walnut. Man, this stuff if getting harder and harder to find in any quality. English Walnut is harder, denser and usually has more the lighter base wood with the inky black veining throughout. It's beatiful wood.
These are as close to Christmas grips as I've got, so Merry Christmas everyone! Please take a moment to remember our troops who can't be with their loved ones this year. "Duty" is a weighty word this time of year but they still do it proudly and with honor.
All beautiful grips Wood, Ivery, stag, etc, nice for looks on any guns but for CC or a combat piece I like my packmeyer's non slip etc for fast shooting, with sweaty hands when the chips are down & the SHTF happens
