She's a WASR 10/63 with Tech Sights, a Tapco stock, a shoulder pad to increase LOP, some cheap railed handguard, an AMD-65 muzzle brake, and a sling of my own design.
She's pretty fugly, but she works great and shoots great. She shoots cloverleafs at 25m, and shoots under chest-sized groups at 400 yards (all from field positions of course... who shoots an AK off a bench anyway?!). Within her effective range, she is as accurate as my M1A. I had a bunch of loose 7.62x39 ammo that was in the back of my Jeep and had gotten wet, and some of it was very rusty and corroded. I ran it through this WASR last weekend, and she ate it like candy (about 100 rounds of it). The only one she had any trouble on was a round that had some brown packing paper rusted to it. It chambered OK, but it stovepiped on extraction. One pull of the bolt handle fixed that one, and she was back in business. The only other malfs I've had with her were due to crappy American made plastic mags, and they were all fixed with a pull of the bolt handle as well. You give her decent GI mags, and she will run like a swiss watch no matter what conditions you're in, what ammo you're feeding her, or whether you've cleaned/lubricated her or not.
In the past I had given some thought to selling her and buying a Saiga, but I don't think I will. I don't really see any reason to when I already have a highly reliable, great shooting rifle. No, I think this one is a keeper.
