SHTF Survival Test

91%, (You obviously survived, could probably do it again with half the supplies) better than 99%

Still not a very realistic test, sorry to say.

81%. Probably would have scored higher if I were in better shape.

I made it as realistic as I could- obviously no one can know for sure how they would perform in a situation like this unless they've experienced it firsthand. I did the best I could :neener:

Thats exactly what I mean.

Taking a test online, when there is no stress, and you know what the test maker wanted as most of his answers, and you don't have to deal with bad luck, or other peoples mistakes...etc etc, just isn't very realistic.

You did a good job, although some of the questions I wasn't fond of.

I.G.B.

which ones? Gimme some feedback so I don't repeat mistakes in the future

#8 - Some of us live far enough out of major cities that we don't have to worry about Nukes taking out our houses. We can hunker down and only have to worry about the looters, rioters and such.

#9 - Once again, why? I have no gear or supplies, so, I just leave something there???

#10 - This question is there because I was too stupid to grab all the supplies. :D

#11 - Same problem as #9. If I am out of supplies, my group has enough arms to carry that small amount of weapons.

#15 - Where is the option for the assault wheelbarrow? :neener:
(If you don't get that joke, you haven't hung around gun forums enough to know GunKid).

Here are some questions that I think would be useful, rather than what you have listed, which almost seems like a movie plot.

1. Do you know mutiple ways of purifiying water, and how many ways are you able to do right now. Extra points if you are able to purify urine into drinking water, with only 2 cups, a rock, and some plastic sheeting.

2. Can you make a fire without a match or lighter? extra points if you have ever done it.

3. Have you ever actually camped out, in the woods, alone, no tent.

4. Do you know how to tie knots and lashings?

5. Can you catch, clean and cook a fish?

6. Can you catch, clean and cook a squirrel/chipmunk?

7. Do you know how to make a snow shelter? Extra points for having actually done it.

8. Have you actually ever hiked more than a day hike? 30 miles in 3-4 days? 50 miles in 5-7 days?

9. Do you have any experience in orienteering?

10. Can you make rope? Ever done it?

Those are skills, among many other, that I think are actually very valuable to have.

Pretty good
You scored 82% Survival!
You survived the event, and you're a pretty good person to call if the SHTF.

On the new test.

I still dont rate myself that high. I need more food- which will hopefully be solved soon (my dad is getting a bunch of rations from a friend at work who used to hike but doesnt anymore). I have only 3 guns but they are varied- although i only have ammo for 2 of them (also be solved soon, 500 rounds of wolf .223) and i have plenty of gear and plenty of water...hm i need to refill the water though it is stale by now....

Not to bad here.

Job well done
You scored 90% Survival!
Obviously you survived...... I'll bet you could do it again, too, with half the resources! Well done.

My test tracked 1 variable How you compared to other people your age and gender:

You scored higher than 99% on Survival

+1 to itgoesboom’s questions. I would add a few more;

11. Do you know what plants native to your area are edible? Do you know where (hill sides, stream banks, etc) and in what season they grow?

12. Have you ever worked on farm? Grew a vegetable garden? Bonus points for the amount of work you did by hand.

13. When something breaks around your home, do you;
a. Throw it out, buy a new one.
b. Buy replacement parts, special tools, fix it right the first time.
c. Go through the old coffee cans I have of old parts, bolts, etc, try to cobb together a fix (usually takes several tries.)
d. I only buy the highest quality and I properly maintain and take care of the things in my home; they rarely break.

14. Which of the following foods will keep the longest without spoiling, in the widest variety of environments?
a. A can of beans
b. Dehydrated backpacking food.
c. A box of breakfast cereal, not opened.
d. A cloth bag of flour.
e. A chocolate bar (no nuts, raisins, etc.)
f. An apple.
g. A tomato.

15. Have you ever trained a hunting or watch dog?

16. You are cooped up with a small group of your most trusted loved ones and friends for months. What is the best way to prevent “cabin fever?”
a. Keep talking, play games, discuses your feeling and encourage others to do so, think up a new and different of interacting each day.
b. Have a complete set of comprehensive rules of behavior everyone must follow, enforce them firmly.
c. Each person has to take a turn spending 1 day away from the others (standing picket duty, patrolling, etc.)
d. Each person tries to keep to them selves as much as possible. Everyone talks in a low voice, and says only what needs to be said. Allow everyone else to stake out their own space in the cabin, and you stay out of it.

On question #2 what does this mean? - "Probably not, as long as I could concentrate"

That you could kill someone if you had time to get the perfect sight picture? That you could do so if you had time to think it over? The question was "would you hesitate" - if you hesitate enough to give yourself time to concentrate you have already lost.

Question #4 - is this pre or post SHTF? If it is pre then there needs to be an intermediate step between the first two answers. By "making a stand" it sounds like you are going out hunting for the intruder. If it is post SHTF, where are the police going to come from? They probably have other things to worry about than a little robbery.

#5 needs a plain "Hell no". Then if you wish you can take it a step further & start killing .gov officials. I've always thought that killing .gov types (no matter how justified :D ) tends to bring unwanted attention towards yourself.

#'s 6, 7, 17 & 20 - The quiet modest people are the ones who are the best prepared. They downplay their abilities/supplies to avoid unwanted attention & to look harmless. The blowhards who claim to be a SEEL/ready for everything are usually the first to go (although if you get there soon enough, thier bodies make for nice scavenging  ).

#11 - Trade out one of the pistols for some sort of .22 with an equal weight in ammo as the others have.

#19 - It really depends on what kind of S is hitting the fan. Out in the woods by yourself isn't a good idea if the .gov is rounding everyone up using helicopters with thermal imaging (as the various videos from Iraq/Afghanistan have shown). If it were urban riots OTOH, then the woods don't look too bad as you are neither urban nor with a bunch of rioters.

You need to reward the guy who just wants to lay low, make strong contacts with his neighbors (because everyone has to sleep), and make like a porcupine while living in a sustainable way.

I would also like 3’+/- of small diameter rubber/plastic tubing, so I don’t have to take apart and rebuild every time I need a drink, or to take a…
A small shovel so I don’t have to dig with my hands would be nice.

Good thinking. Those would be usefull.

But it sounds like you could do it without those extras. Just not quite a convienent.

Like drinking your own piss could ever be convienent. :scrutiny: :what:

86%

I mostly liked the test, but found many choices rather strange. It seems to me the test should concentrate on general thought process and strategic decisions, rather than specific pieces of equipment. The bottom line is that when SHTF, Murphy's law says you will be away from your bunker, someplace exposed and totally surprised. You may not even have a pocket knife or lighter, let alone firearms and ammo of your choice. Then ingenuity, cool head, decent physical shape, and animal survival instinct will count most.

I completely agree whacking others for their stuff will probably get you killed fastest of all. Somehow people always believe they will never get hurt, until they do. Simply put, in a survival situation, even the smallest injury becomes a big problem, so would you risk that for an extra clip of 9mm or a box of chocolate cookies? Self-defense is fine, but looking out for trouble, whacking local officials and LEO?? That seems psychotic to me.

The test should start you on the beach wearing just shorts, among a panicked crowd of vacationers, old ladies, socker moms, and screaming kids. Your first mission is to find a pair of shoes that would fit your size 12 feet before the hot sand and broken glass completely immobilize you...

My test tracked 1 variable How you compared to other people your age and gender:

You scored higher than 99% on Survival
That was simple for crowd avoidance, nothing for real survival in the woods.

79% I have a few different answers for some of the choices, but oh well its not my test.

I have shelter (tent and sleeping bag) ready at all times, never know when a flood or chemical spill might occur and have to rough it for a few days until clean up comes in.

Just a side note, I know it's not a pleasant thing to think about, but in the beginning stages of a SHTF scenario you are VERY likely to be put in a predator/prey kill-or-die situation, especially if you don't live in the backwoods to begin with.

That bein said, I would rather be on the givin end of that kinda violence than the receiving end.

I suppose you could wait for them to shoot first if that'd ease your conscience any, but that's one bullet less that YOU get when you loot their corpse.

No, it's not nice, but nor is a SHTF scenario.

I scored 90%, but more than 99% for my age group or whatever that meant. I answered the "map and flashlite" on the one question because on a previous question I answered I have at least one gun and ammunition already. Besides, what good is any "gun" and X number of "bullets?" You need loaded ammo, "rounds" with the gun, or it's no better than a club.
It's a fun quiz anyway. :D

The first question has the option:
"I would never touch a gun, no matter what."

But then question 11 makes me assume that I am "proficient with all types of firearms" and then forces me to pick up a gun!!!

I feel violated!
