SHTF What is coming with me?

I think that,in a REAL SHTF scenario, that an ample supply of clean drinking water will be needed more that ANY firearm.

In a real SHTF scenario a lot of hot water and disposable towels will be needed, along with a bucket of deodorizer or air freshener.:neener:

I'm talking about firearms.

But in the Bug Out bag I have this

MSR Mini-Works Ceramic Water Filter

and I added in some in some

And plenty of ammo to shoot the bastards that try to take my fresh water and food.

Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Better to prepare, than desperately seeking it when you HAVE to have it. More than likely those that have will have THEIR OWN GUNS to protect what they have.

I say, you want it? Come and get some. (If you can walk through an RPK M-72 built lead wall.)

So what handgun are you strapping on the belt when SHTF?????? Taurus PT-22?

In the case of some fantasy, urban, civil unrest scenario where I'm running from building to building, having shootouts with foreign invaders and picking up spare ammo whenever I can, my sidearm would be my Beretta 92FS. It's used by our military, so if I need spare parts, magazines, ammo, I can hopefully find them strewn about the streets.

But in all seriousness, the Beretta would probably be a top contender out of my collection to be strapped to my thigh in any kind of stationary or mobile emergency situation.

I thought RPK's and AK's were only good for zombies?
I'm sure not walking through a lead wall.
I'll be up on that hill with a scoped .308 and a ghillie suit.

I thought RPK's and AK's were only good for zombies?

Other guns will work too, but RPKs will work fine. Isn't zombie just another synonym for Liberal?

Well Texas Terrier, if you think they are gonna lock it at least lay down the words to what you will carry in that hair raising emergency situation.

Is it a?

If I have to bug out I have 2 handguns coming with me. An HK Tactical and a Ruger 22/45. Both of them suppressed. The 22 will be very beneficial for small game hunting and the 45 for personal defense. All without alerting others that may be near by

I didn't know what IBTL meant.
I googled. According to Urban Dictionary.com, Texas Bulldog posted:

"I blow Thai lads. A common phrase associated with a hammersavage"

I'm not sure if I needed to know that.

The 205 threads are the funniest.

IBTL = In Before The Lock

Not sure why locking would be an issue. Someone would have to have their mangina way out of whack to think this wasnt firearm related.

Where will you store the gun?
How do you plan on carrying the gun?
What do you anticipate needing to shoot?
How much shooting do you anticipate needing to do?
How long do you anticipate the SHingTF to last?

Well, to keep it from digressing to shooting liberals,
I'm taking:
1) scoped .22 rifle with subsonics.
2) Springy 9mm Service
3) an AK

If I have to ditch a rifle, I'm keeping the .22
a well placed round of .22 to the head will kill just about any zombie.

Mine is to get me and mine to our rural meet point, that has shelter, water, food, and a defensible position for the foreseeable period of time.

Listen on the radio as the urban areas descend in to utter chaos.

The problem with this type of thread is that you finally come to realize that it really doesn't matter. If you prepare for normal, everyday life scenarios, then you probably have all you need. IE, if you carry or keep a gun in your nightstand, wouldn't that be what you are going to take along? (And exactly where are you going?) As to reliability, probably most weapons would be reliable enough - if it (and you) last long enough to need spare ammo, parts, etc, then there will be plenty lying around. (BTW, who honestly thinks that they could have fired off 50 rounds at people during Katrina's aftermath and lived to tell about it? Why do people think they need to run into the woods with 2K rounds in their backpack?)

Sigh - I would think that an infinitely more important thing to concern yourself with would be to be on good terms with your neighbors so you all can get through whatever together...

... sorry to ruin your fantasy. In a SHTF scenario, I'd try to find some friends.

Oh, btw, how well is the glock going to function when you accidentally drop the magazine into a street sewer? :)

After packing my .223, I'd include a hi-cap 9mm (XDm or Glock) and a .22 auto. Both use light, easy to find ammo capable of SD applications. Having a concealable weapon that can be used as a backup is nice.
