First off, this is just a hypothetical so don't ask why I would do this. The thought just ran through my head earlier today and I decided to ask about it here. If I had a Sig or gsg 1911-22 would a high end Marvel conversion fit and function on the Sig frame? Not sure if the frames are built to real 1911 specs. Opinions?

Never seen one apart but my gun shop owner buddy told me the frames are NOT compatible with any 1911 Government parts.

Do you mean slides or just parts in general? Because the GSG will take quite a few 1911 parts, the claim I've seen online is up to 80% parts interchangeability. Don't know if that number is true, but I've definitely seen modified GSGs with standard 1911 parts.

I just went and tried placing one of my 1911 slides on my GSG, and the slide fits, but the barrel and recoil spring guide do not (the frame was obviously designed so you couldn't toss a .45 barrel in there and start shooting). So it could be possible... But I can't be sure (no experience with Marvel kits). It'd be hard to find anyone who could tell you for sure, since I doubt many people have converted a .22LR 1911 to a .22LR 1911.

As I said, I haven't had one apart myself.
I could see the frames not being compatible with centerfire parts as the receiver construction cannot handle the pressures of those calibers.
Good point on converting a .22 1911 to a .22 1911 :)
