Sig 220 (or any autoloader) captured guide rod question

I got a season special offer from Gray Guns for a captured guide rod which fits my Sig 220, why would I want one? Not trying to be coy or a smartass, I just don't know what something like this would do improve my SAO Sig 220. Just asking.

Gray Guns says, "This captured design allows for a longer spring life before replacement."

I'd think is may be easier to install and remove as it stays together. Probably the old "six of one, half a dozen of another."

Wilson swears their flat wound spring lasts much longer. Maybe this is the same concept. The one piece thing May just be for convenience.
