Well I just got my new 226 Elite. I've never owned a Sig except for a P6 in 9mm. I like the feel of the P6 but it has the round limitations of 8.

My question is after owning many 9's like Glock 17's and 19's and other makes this Sig feels huge and bulky for a 9.

For you Sig owners will I like the Sig Elite in 9mm or should I go by my gut that this piece is too big and sell it before I fire it and lose value?

It is a beautiful gun but huge and even with my big hands it feels bulky.

Will it get better?

Thanks

Dave

Nope, you will learn to hate it over time. I'm going to be a nice guy and give you $500 for right now to help reduce your pain!

ok!

It is a beautiful gun but it feels like it should be in 45 cal. It feels like my older H&K 45 in size. I was surprised to feel the large grip as I ordered it from the cataloge.

I'm sure it is a nice holster police gun but for occasional carry it seems huge.

Am I missing something?

While I don't have an elite model, I do have a Sig 226 9mm Navy and I really like it alot. I feel the grip is just right, but if it were the slightly larger it would be to big for my hand. LM

sig

Yes, I'm new to Sig but experienced with many other makes. I thought I'f move up to one of the best and I am impressed at the workmenship. I just wonder about the large rounded grip and large frame size for a 9mm.

I never hefted one until I ordered this one but I bought a few of the P6's and love them.

Is the Navy grip smaller?

...

Did it not come with the standard black/thinner plastic grips?

I know the fake plastic wood ones on the ones I have seen and felt are too big IMO for most hands but IF you can get the normal thinner black ones you might find it comfy..

About the size, hmmm, I have 2 P229's, one 9mm, one 40cal, and I find them both exceptional, both in weight and size..

If you do not have the regular grips, then I would say find a gun store that has a standard P226 9mm and take a feel, and go from there..

Buying by sight only, leaves room for problems as you may well have found out, but I think IF you can get the grip comfy, as a shooter (the gun), you'll be pleasantly suprised and happy.. and the gun will grow on ya IMO.

If you've got the wood grips that's part of why the feel HUGE. The stock black plastic grips are significantly thinner. You can also dremmel them down by half their thickness (which is how I carry them). Also the Hogue grip, both the wrap around's and the panels, are thicker then stock plastic grips but the rubber even things out for me.

If you insist on selling it, PM me, I'll take it off your hands for more then $500 :)

Biggums, the Sig Navy 226 has just the same size grip as a standard size 9mm 226, 15 round mags. The Navy was named that for the U.S. Navy Seals, at least thats what I've been told. LM

Wood grips look great and all, but they are really thick. Get regular plastic ones and keep wood ones in the safe.
