Let us know how it does at the range (hope the wait is worth it!), and photos of your new SIG P226 when you get it please!

The 226s made 15-20 years ago, along with a couple others, set the standard for accuracy and reliability in 9mm service pistols. Anyone who tells you different is a fool in my opinion.

Got the new p-226 x-five supermach and it´s the best gun i have right now. Hoping to get a sa/da p-226 soon. Also have a x-five (old one ) in 22lr .

Eh. I've got a cherry West German 226 that I love, but my U.S.-made duo-tone 226 with the (short) external extractor is equally as accurate and just as reliable. But yeah, I do like the lighter stamped slides with the flat tops, just seem to balance a tad better.

Only 2 more days and I can pick it up.....

Looks like the OP decided on a great gun.

I'd simply say for anyone considering this, that both guns are outstanding and will serve lifetimes of very reliable purposes, and both have high capacity magazines available. Both guns have been widely copied and tested in military and law enforcement circles.

The CZ fits a lower budget, and has a longer trigger reset and thinner slide which is hard for some to grasp. The CZ for me is more ergonomically fitting. The CZ is also a bit more slim design in my view.

If they were free, or the same price, I'd take the Sig as more refined and marginally better in some categories. However, for the significant price difference, I'd go with the CZ if I were on any sort of budget.

Are you cooled off enough yet?
We have three day cooling off period in Illinois and by day three I find myself being pretty angry at having to wait three days to take possession of something I paid for and the Feds have already determined I am legally responsible enough to own,,,

I have an early model 226, bought it back in '86 before all the lasers and lights were in fashion. It's a great pistol, wouldn't sell it if I had to! I had a 229 also, bought it in .357 SIG and bought a .40 barrel to make it two guns in one. Wish I still had it but the new P320 I just got for X-mas will make up for it.

Being a pre ban I still have and can buy 15 round mags for it (226). The 10 day waiting period is almost done, it figures that even though it was overruled it still active while the state fights it. Hopefully the 1 gun a month will be next. I like the look of the Elite but think they're pricey, $2-300 less would be better but that's the price you pay when you want one of the best handguns made.

Enjoy and post some pics.

I lived in California when there was a 15-day waiting period ... now, that was tough ... With any luck, those of you in CA and IL can eventually get it so that if you have a valid CPL/CHL/CCW there's NO waiting period (as in many other states).

Gratuitous SIG photo provided just because ...

Yeah it is kinda crazy.
I can walk into ye olde gonne shoppe with a loaded G26 on my hip and I STILL have to wait 24 hours for a long gun or 72 hours for a handgun,,,

Yea! Picked it up yesterday

I can hardly wait to take it to the range to shoot it.

For those of you who are not in California the California models have a couple extra "features" A loaded chamber indicator. (ugly but no big deal, I assume the chamber is loaded until I verify it is not by CHECKING)

and....sigh, a magazine safety.
Funny the manual states about 10 times it will fire with the magazine removed. I wish.
This looks like a funny little bit that could cause problems down the road.
It is legal for me to remove it so I need to do some checking to see what is necessary. I have heard you need to replace the locking block (with appears to come out easy on guns without the safety) but am still researching what all is involved. I get concerned when things like this are put in as an afterthought. But I bought it anyway:D

Note: Apparently Sig thinks we are not very bright in California since they had to put the message on the slide 2 times.....:
PS: Snapcap in the chamber.

PS #2. Yes 10 days is better than what it used to be.

PS #3. Yes without being able to shoot both the CZ and the SIG it was a tough call, part of the decision was based on what was available.

Range report soon.

Dudedog,
GREAT choice, you will not be disappointed in the performance of your P226 Dark Elite!
The SRT trigger (Short Reset Trigger) is great IMHO.
I have a Sig M11-A1 9mm (compact)(variant of P-229) and Sig P938 9mm Extreme (sub-compact)(with HOGUE camo-green grip).
Both of these Sigs have over 1K rounds through them, ABSOLUTELY not one single problem with either one:D
Next to my S&W Model 52-2, my M11-A1 is the most accurate, trouble free pistol in my safe!
And darn fun to shoot too!!:neener:

Looking forward to your range report on first time out with the NEW P226!

Jell Dog wanted to see a picture of a crippled Sig P226 mag so here it is
Live from Hollywood Ca (well Ca)
Both side have the indentation.

I have ran about 150 rounds thru this mag. Note the wear mark on it at the top.
Thewre are some on the other side as well.

Ok Dudedog,
here's a photo of a 15 round mag:

Stamped steel sides totally different.
Sorry you live in an anti-gun state.
Buy more mags?

Absolutely nothing of value to add except that the Old Dog wanted to chime in after Dudedog and jell-dog ...

Sorry about those crippled California mags ... I use the superb Mec-Gar 18-round flush-fit mags myself and carry a "Plus-2" 20 rounder in a pouch on the belt.

YUp, that is how they decided to modify their mags to hold 10 rounds.

The indention turns the magazine from a staggered column to a straight column one

As a FYI it is an absolute PITA :cuss: to try to get in round #10, and I have no problems getting the last round in my other mags.
My right thumb may be the only strong mussle on my whole body.:D

Not really sure what "Eh" means or if you have more than 800 rounds through any of them, doesn't look like you do, but my opinion still stands.
