Having problems replacing my front site on my 229.
I have a brass punch with bass hammer, a good soft face vice.
But it will not budge to either side no mater what.
So, instead of destroying my carry gun, figured I'd ask if I am missing something?
Also tried a good dose of MPro-7 CLP to help lube thing up.
Still a NO-GO.

RTFM,

I think you are better off finding a local gunsmith that has a Sig sight pusher rather than attempting to do it yourself with a brass punch.

Also, I believe that Sig sights can only go on and come off one side of the gun and not the other. Sig has directions for using its sight pusher on their Web site. The directions are in a .pdf file and I believe they specify from which side of the gun you need to remove and install sights.

Good luck,

Broadside

That is a SIG for you; very crafty!

The factory doesn't intend on user's to have to
replace the front sight. (Laughing Loudly) :D I
know a guy who literally broke a Glock sight
pusher, trying to move the front sight on a
SIG P220.

That's another reason SIG's are MY choice for
all social encounters of a serious nature! :uhoh:

As others have mentioned, save yourself some trouble and get a SIG or MGW pusher (I'm not entirely certain, but I'm pretty sure MGW makes SIG's pusher) if you plan on doing it yourself.

IMO, stay away from the PI pushers, at least the Universal model. An expensive piece of cheap junk. You could probably make a better pusher in a maintenance shop.

Thoroughly remove the Mpro7 and put a couple drops of Kroil in the dovetail.
Wait a couple hours and try again.
I would also use a nylon sight punch instead of a brass one.
www.brownells.com sells them but all they really are is a short length of nylon rod.
www.midwayusa.com has Kroil on sale I think.
But the previously mentioned sightpusher is the best way to go if you are willing to spend the money.
Gil Hebard guns has about the best price around on them.

Yup, exercise in futility.
That's why I figured I'd just let sleeping dog lay, until I can find the sight pusher or a qualified 'smith to get it done for me.

Thank all.
