i thinking of selling my p226r .40 cal. for the p229 sas. im also not sure if i want to go with the 9mm or .40, becuse if i go 9mm i will only have to buy 9mm & .45acp. so i will be able to store more of those two types of rounds. however i like the .40 round for self defense and this will be for carry.

so questons for those of you who have the 229 sas
1. how do you like them?
2. do you like the srt trigger?
3. 9mm or .40?
4. sell the 226 for the 229 sas?
5. how accurate are they?

I've had a 229 SAS in 9mm for about a year now. I started shooting it in local USPSA matches, mainly in order to break it in before it was relegated to carry duty. It shoots well enough that a few of the other competitors remarked on how well it performed, versus a few other types of pistols at the match. I carry it regularly, depending on the weather, clothing, etc, but may lose it, as my wife has taken a liking to it.

As to the trade... If funds are an issue, then I can understand why you'd want to trade, but I tend to hold onto my guns. Some are workhorses that I couldn't do without, others have sentimental value, and I tend to do quite a bit of research on something I want to buy, which (I think) leads towards retention. So I guess that if it were me, I wouldn't sell the 226 unless I either needed the funds, or wanted to downsize.

i don't need to sell it i just don't shoot it. i think i had it out maybe twice in the last year. where if i had the 229 i would carry it and therefore shoot it more, becuse i like to get more range time with my carry guns. thanks for the reply.

Hmm. I had both a 226 in 40 and a 229 SAS in 40. Traded the 229, kept the 226. Main reason? The 229 was the same weight as the 226 so I'd rather have the larger grip and longer sight radius of the 226. My pants would be dragged down as much as the 226 would too. So ended up never carrying it.

Oh, and I replaced the 229 with a M&P 40c for carry.
