So I picked up a P239 this weekend in .40 on a trade. I really like the platform but was wondering about buying the 9mm conversion barrel for it. Topgunsupply even sells them. I've done some searching and some folks say drop in the 9mm barrel, use the .40 mags & springs, and it runs like a swiss watch. Other folks don't speak so kindly about this.

Ok folks, is it worth the investment and do these conversions work reliably...

NGIB I had a similar question regarding magazines and was directed to Sigs site they have a chatroom and were very good about getting back to me. Also there is a dealer here in Texas who will answer your questions, GT distributors. I was asking about .40 magazines on the .357 conversion and they said no problem.

I just purchased a 357 sig barrel for my P229 in 40. When I was checking into doing this the information I got was that the 40 and 357 use the same mags, my LEO mags are even marked 40/357. But you need a different recoil spring and mags to go to the 9mm. Makes sense as the 357 is a necked down 40 and the 9 has a smaller diameter.

I can only speak for my 229.

I have a Bar-Sto 9mm conversion barrel for my SIG 229 .40S&W.

I use the original .40S&W caliber springs and magazines when I shoot it and I have had no problems with them.

The 229 uses the same mags for .40/357 but the 239 has different mags.
