Oh Hi Oh
I picked up a Sig 250 Sub Compact (9mm), took it to the range and found it was enjoyable to shoot, except I kept getting pinged in the face and forehead by spent shells. I am convinced the problem is not with the gun. There are several factors that make contribute to the assaulting shells. Can someone help me figure out which variable(s) might be the culprit?

-All of my other semi autos are sticker fired and I shoot them fairly well, with no brass pinging my skull.

-My Glock and M&P have grips that are a bit thicker, a little easier to hold on to.

-The grip angle of the Sig is a bit different than that of my Glock and M&P.

-I shoot revolvers often, double action so, as far as I can tell, the DAO isn't throwing me off, but I could be wrong.

-I was shooting Blazer aluminum ammo. I had one failure to extract and the spent shell was lodged pretty tightly into the chamber.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I took a new 250 sub compact to the range today, was shooting federal ammo, no issues at all with the ejection. I agree with the point above to try brass cased ammo, let us know how you make out....

Likely a light load. When developing a handload for my M&P .40 I took five rounds out of fifteen to the bill of my cap with a starting load and no problems since. Factory ammo can vary and if you're going to shoot it I suggest finding something your Sig likes...or closing your eyes before you pull the trigger. No, scratch that last one!

Turns out it was indeed an issue with the aluminum shells. I went through about 150 rounds of Blazer brass with no shells to the head. Tried a few more aluminum rounds and they were forehead magnets. Ouch! No problem. I'll use the cheaper aluminum rounds in my Glocks and will stick to brass with the Sig. Now that I had time to focus on shooting rather than dodging metal I quickly learned the trigger and was very accurate.

Blazer aluminum is generally good ammo, but sometimes it is not compatible with the quirks of an individual gun. I had several (four or five per box of 50) failures to eject altogether in my CZ PCR.

I've found one of these helps.
