Sig has come out with a new version of the 229 that is incredible looking. I just happened to go the sig home page and there's a big pic right in the middle.

Must have one as soon as possible.

From the SIGARMS® Custom Shop comes the ultimate in concealed carry performance – the P229 SIG Anti-Snag™ Pistol.

Chambered in 40 S&W, this limited production P229 pistol from the SIGARMS® Custom Shop has gone through a radical dehorning process resulting in an ultra smooth, snag free profile that’s ideal for concealed carry.

Each pistol utilizes the new DAK™ trigger system and features a smooth, dehorned stainless steel slide with front SIGLITE® Night Sight and a contrast rear sight over a light weight black hard-anodized alloy frame with rounded trigger guard and dust cover. The P229 SAS comes with the new SIG SAUER® Custom Shop Grips and is covered by a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Nice pistol.

But I think SIG is missing out on alot of potential sales by having their P229 ST, and P229 SAS available in only .40 S&W. I won't buy either in .40, but I'd buy at least one of the two if it was 9mm. I suspect there are a fair number of shooters that feel the same way.

As it seems it's limited I don't think they're worried about being able to move a whole lot of them :) Too bad though since I highly doubt they'll make it to untactiCalifornia..

I already have a Bar-sto 9mm conversion barrel and a Bar-sto 357 Sig barrel for my current 40 cal 229. If the barrels are the same then I believe I'll be doing some horsetrading real soon to get myself one of these SAS 229's.

HighVelocity, can a Bar-sto 9mm conversion barrel be used to convert a SIG P229 ST .40 S&W to 9mm? How much do these conversion barrels cost? Thanks.

Yes they can and last I checked Bar-Sto was getting $185 for them. You have to ask for the conversion barrel when you order so they don't send you the regular 229 9mm barrel. I have heard of this mistake happening a couple of times.

Yep, 40-9mm conversion barrel, although last I looked they were $200 + shipping. I got mine 2nd hand from a member on sigforum.
So my current 229 will shoot 40, 357 and 9mm.

Still a little bit large and heavy to be marketed as a CCW in my opinion. The 239 SAS is a bit more manageable, while by no means small, and comes in the 9mm option.

Nice design though - I'll give em that. One of these days I should give a Sig an extended look rather than just a few shots at the range borrowing someone else's. This one won't be it - to me it's size is neither fish nor fowl. I would go for the full size versions as range guns and the 239 as being about the biggest 9mm CCW I'd go for.

Apologies - my error. I saw the 239 SAS listing and assumed it mirrored the normal 239 configurations where 9mm is of course an option.

Pity - I think Sig would do better with the more popular caliber in a setup like that.
