SIG Grip questions

I was brought up on 1911s. I shoot CZ competitively. I recently acquired a P239 for 400 bucks. You know what is coming....due to the high and tight thumbs-forward grip the slide is not locking back on the last shot as I am riding the slide release. I have tried adjusting slightly outward but the only method that seems to work best for me is the thumb-over-thumb crush grip. Any thought on making the thumbs forward grip workable?

Would be interested to read the replies. I'm just an avid shooter but I end up not being as accurate with thumbs on thumb so I just use my CZ and 1911 grip and never mind the slide lock. I also try curling my thumb and still use straight thumb on support hand (hybrid of the 2) but haven't shot enough to get used to it. Only about 200 rounds with my first Sig a 227.

OP - It sounds like you are over gripping your gun. You shouldn't be using a crush grip, but more of a handshake pressure with your strong hand

It just takes a little practice...just lay your thumb on the back of the support hand thumb, like this
