I spoke to Sig today after I was told by a gun store that the Sig556 SWAT is no longer manufactured and that the only option is the Sig556 Classic SWAT. He claimed that they stopped manufacturing them in 2008.

I was curious if this was the reason I couldn't get them so I called.

The answer was that no, they haven't stopped manufacturing them yet, but the plan is to eventually switch all 556 rifles to the 550 style stock.

One question - why?

Also, why is it that I can't find a single 556 SWAT with the hinged collapsible stock? The few I've come across (mainly over the phone), including the ridiculously overpriced ones all had only the collapsible stock. Can your order from Sig the part to make the old version into the current version which is hinged on top of collapsing?

apparently I'm the last to learn about this. lol

I went ahead and ordered 2 of the old style from a source that has 1 already and has orders with multiple distributors and Sig directly so they should get another soon.

I don't want the 550 stock. It looks uncomfortable.
