Why can't I find a Sig556 SWAT?

People are saying that the EBR gobble up is over. I still can't get a Sig556 SWAT though. I want the SWAT because I want the rails stock instead of having to put them on later.

I've had 2 of these on order since January and there is no sign of them coming.

Is it still made? If so, is the EBR gobble up not over like people are saying?

Plenty of places have the regular Sig 556. None have the Sig 556 SWAT. My LGS went so far as to place an order with all of their distributors for these units and still nothing.

who says the EBR gobble is over?

Sig is still not accepting any additional orders for 556s as far as I've heard. Kimber is back ordered 5-6 months on handguns, glock is 190000 guns behind, and ARs ordered back in November and finally starting to trickle in.

Even if the "gobble" is done as you say, manufacturers still need to catch up. It could still easily be up to a year for things to get back to the way they were.

It's eased up considerably around here. Does that mean every model is in stock and on sale? Uh, no. But it has eased up a bunch.

It's easier finding a new EBR than a new Toyota Highlander limited. The '10 models won't be out for 2 or 3 months and the lots are all but bare. I just got back from a visit to the largest dealer in the state. Pfui.

^^ what?? people are buying cars now??

Toyota just announced a huge loss yesterday. I didn't think they had anything selling like hot cakes except for maybe the new Prius.

Anyway, EBR gobble maybe coming to more of a normalcy, but yes, the manufacturers are backed up. My DPMS upper is said to be 12-24 month wait, and 6 months have gone by. Even if there were no new orders (and there are of course), that back log is not going to get any better, unless they crank up production but I'm not sure that they can/want to do that with uncertain futures.

Prius? They gots lots of those. Rows of them. According to the sales guy, they've reprinted the window stickers with lower numbers and they have a rebate. The new ones will be about $3k higher. For what that's worth; it's like listening to predictions about gun sales and prices. :)

Heck, there was a couple from Charlottesville on the back lot looking for a Highlander Limited while I was back there with the sales guy looking at colors (I want silver, but what the heck, looking is free.) We stood around talking about this and that because the 3 base models and 10 or so Hybrids weren't what we were looking for. He drove me back to the front in the golf cart (huge parking lot) and let her take one for a test drive before they had to leave for their dinner reservation.

He's going to check with other dealers in the region, but they're harder to find than EBRs were a month ago.

Oh well, and I have 2 people pestering me to buy my '06 Avalon. I wonder if they have any guns to trade? Or ammo?

This sucks.

If I can't get the 556 SWATs before I leave for Minnesota, I'll have to wait in line to get a purchase permit to buy them. I can't remember, but there might be a 1 AW/HG limit per month too.

Also, I'd be dealing with a gun store I don't know. I at least know the LGS down here and would rather purchase through them before I leave than have to wait and purchase up in Minnesota.

I called them a moment ago to ask if maybe it would be easier to get 2 FS2000s instead. Only problem is the FS2000 has no rail for accessories other than the top rail.
