We convinced Sig to make us a run of M11 marked pistols. Depending on the demand, we can get them marked M11A1 (like the M9A1 with the light rails) or simply M11. They would be based on the 229 frame, have night sights and come with the extra mag. The price looks like it will be about $825. So far the concensus is that they be marked M11 so the guys in the MTU's and on the State Marksmanship teams can use them in the competitions (the rules about that are not known by me and neither here nor there for this buy). They will only do a run of 100 guns.

Anyone interested in one?

The M11 is a 228 with a different roll mark.

The 228 and 229 share the same frame, but the 228 utilizes the old style stamped and welded slides, while the 229 uses the newer milled slides.

The balance of the two pistols differs significantly, IMHO. The 229 feels more top-heavy.

I wish I had a 228 to complement my 225.

I would be curious to know if they are going to bring in a few more 228 pistols to fulfill this order or if they were going to mark a 229 as an M11.

Thinking the same thing myself because the P228 is a whole ball of wax different in feel from the P229. Not that the P229 is a bad firearm, quite the contrary, it is a wonderful gun, especially in .40/.357. It is just that the P228 is a perfect weight and balance for the 9mm cartridge IMO.
