I was going to post a question on how to fix a problem with my wife's SIG P232, but I figured out what was wrong. So I figured I would share it here.

I took the pistol apart this last Sunday at the range, and when I put it back together, the slide catch lever was not holding the slide back on an empty magazine. I had this problem once about 2 years ago, but I took it back apart, and reassembled it, and it worked after that.

This time I had no such luck, no matter how many time I reassembled it. I looked at the manual, and it didn't cover this problem. I looked online, and found nothing there. Finally I just stared at it long enough, (Trying to see what it did, and why it wasn't doing it), and I realized that the slide catch lever spring was slightly out of place. It somehow had gotten on the inside of the slide catch lever, and was pushing it out instead of in. That in turn did not allow the magazine follower to push the slide catch lever up, so the weapon functioned as if it was not empty.

I fixed it, reassembled it, and it works fine.

Here is a .pdf of the manual for the P232.

Hope that helps if any of y'all run into the same problem.
