Just purchased a P232 SL from CDNN. When the slide is removed, the slide catch lever and associated spring seem to want to drift towards midline with the slightest bump...easy to displace during cleaning, but pushes back straight, just need to watch it as slide goes on. Is this normal?

Is this normal?

Yes, it's a bit of a bother, but perfectly normal. I just got used to it. I tap it while cleaning to get underneath and tap it back to clean everthing else and try not to bump it off. If you do knock it off, it goes back on easily.

A great gun... I love mine, so much so I bought a blue, a stainless and a .32acp.

Something you just have to be careful about. It's really easy for both the catch and the spring to come out (mine popped out the first time I took the slide off), but they go back in place easily.

You'll like that gun. My P232 is a joy to shoot - just fits so comfortably in my hand, and it has enough mass to make the snap of a .380 pretty tame.

What you are experiencing is normal, I have extra parts just in case.

Take a picture or do like I did and just buy 3 of the 232SL's then if it gets loose you can always see how to put it back.

Wonderful pistol, craftmanship, may favorite handgun - simply a work of art. It is also very accurate. Here is a picture of the last 2 rounds of my first box of 50. This was 30' kneeling. I was already hooked on the first 48 rounds, but this put me over the top. It was too easy to shoot accurately so I went for the little scoring logo in the corner, despite my aging eyes...

Thanks all, glad to know I didn't get a lemon and I'll take pictures for what sounds like the inevitable "pops completely off" moment. Just not used to quality guns (i.e. Berettas:neener:) having loose parts moving here and there. The only other one I own like that is a Keltec P3AT where the little metal piece falls out (if you don't count the spring on a 1911!).

...

Yes, that can be a little tricky at first along with understanding/reading that your return spring has a wide end and a narrower end (hard to see) but it's important to get it on right - smaller end on first, wider end out.

Enjoy
