I bought a used Sig Mosquito that was won at an NRA banquet. I took it out to shoot and it will only fire half the time. I'll oull the trigger a second time and it will usually fire. I replaced the recoil spring and still the same problems. I started paying close attention to the issue and when the weapon wont fire the hammer will fall to the half cock position. Basically what I am getting at what would cause the hammer to only fall to the half cock position its upsetting please help.

Sorry I can't help more but you might also want to post or search the Sig Forum as there is a TON of info on the SIG Mosquito over there.

Interesting pistol that I have thought of purchasing but never did when I read numerous times of problems with it and that it may only work reliably with CC Mini-Mags. BTW the Mosquito is not made by SIG - not sure who makes it.

For now I am sticking with my 40 year old Ruger Mark1 .22 pistol.

I am sure there will be others with feedback here also.

Good luck.

I love my Mosquito! It isn't free from issues, but it's cheap to shoot. I like it because it's 90% scale of a full size Sig. Most issues I've found are due to ammo and feed issues. I've found if you use CCI mini-mags like Sig recommends, it runs pretty well. I've been using the new AR tactical rounds with a lot of success. One thing I did do to improve ammo feeding is file down then polish a sort of feed ramp in the bottom of the back of the barrel. Why Sig left this almost like a "step" I don't know. Hope this helps. Cheap ammo, you get what you pay for. I get a lot of failure to fire or light loads that won't cycle the slide with cheaper stuff.

A gunsmith friend of mine had two words to describe working on the internals of a Mosquito: "Never. Again."

My experience based on my sig is that the next round probably isn't seated fully in the chamber. Give the gun a very full cleaning, buy Mini Mags, and see if the problem still exists. If it does, there may be something more. If it's like mine that should solve it.
