I think also, it has to be that w/ these new zinc pistols, the key is dry lubing. something that maybe everyone is not used to. being that the p22 was my first pistol. I used to lube the hell out of it. I had problems w/ the safety walking on. and it started having wear problems on the frame. I asked some people at rimfirecentral.com about this problem. They had me clean the slide up, and not to oil it so much.
I use remOil w/ teflon. The bottle not the spray. I lightly oil a patch, and run it over the slide rails, inside the rails, the inside of the slide. I have not had any frame wear, and the safety does not walk to the on position.
I have fired over 25,000 rounds through my Walther P22 pistol. This pistol will go pop everytime I pull the trigger. I was so impressed w/ the reliability, that I purchased a Walther p99 in .40SW. I love both pistols.
I spoke w/ a person at SW and they were freaking out in disbelief when I told them I had fired approx 20,000 rounds through it at one point.
Its a good pistol, and the zinc this is probably going to be the wave of the future as polymer is very common now. I am glad I learned how to take care of mine, and I probably would not sell it for the world.
Although, I almost traded it for a Ruger MKII lol. Thats cause I liked the full size feel of that pistol. Gonna have to get one of those someday.
The only problems I feel w/ the p22 is the size of the pistol grip it needs to be larger, fits my daughter, son, and wife just fine though.
So after I finish my deal w/ my Sig p226, I probably will look into purchasing a sig mosquito just to see what the deal is.
I am also betting alot of the problems w/ this pistol could be that it needs a break in period. Run 500-1000 CCI Mini Mags through it. I bet that would loosen it up pretty good.
