Sig or S&W

Thinking of a Sig p228 or a S&W m&p 9c anyone have both,opinions?

if you can afford the sig. I would go with that. they are worth every penny. but if it's going to get beat and abused. I would go with the s&w. they hold up pretty good. both have very good warrenty.

I don't have those two, but have similar models (a SIG P6 and an M&P 9L). Between the two I like the M&P.

I would take the M&P. If you like DA/SA/DAO with metal frames look for Gen 3 S&Ws. A 9x19 or .40 in top shape w/o papers or worthless box will set you back about $350-$400.

It really depends on which trigger system you prefer and whether or not you plan on adding a light. Both are great guns that are more accurate than 99% of shooters and very reliable to boot.

I agree wit plouffedaddy, they are both great pistols. I love both... I carry a Sig everyday, but there is no denying the M&P is a well rounded very affordable choice also. I would trust my life with either. You need to see which fits you best. Enjoy, you will probably be happy with either...

That's tough, but edge goes to SIG IMO. Loved my 40c and 9c, but the SIG trigger is much preferred by me.

Hard to go wrong with either choice.

It's mainly down to personal preferences regarding the trigger types, polymer versus aluminum frames, and ergonomics.

Of the two, I'd personally go with a nice German-made P228, since M&Ps can easily be found on shelves, while finding a German P228 takes a little more seaching.

Do you have a range close by that has these for rent? It is worth it if you can. I lean more to the Sig, but that is just personal preferance. My choice of Sigs is the P220 though, I wanted a single stack to carry. I have put a few hundred rounds through an M&P though, they really are impressive. I really like the interchangable backstraps... Most pistols (except single stacks,usually) arent as comfortable to me. The M&P was an exception.

I have both the 228 and the M&P9 and have shot both extensively.

I really like the 228 and have carried it for CCW when I was carrying either a 226 or 220 as a duty gun. I found it more accurate and possessed a better trigger out of the box...the DA first shot is also very useful for teaching trigger management when a student is jerking their SA shots.

I shoot my M&P9 mostly in IDPA competition. I've upgraded the trigger with the Apex Tactical Specialties FSS (Forward Set Sear) action parts and it is very competitive with 1911s triggers.

Whether you'll be able to see the difference in accuracy would depend on your skill level
