I've tried a bunch, and still like my Streamlight Scorpions the best. I have LED lights for general use, but the LED's dont put out a beam like the xenon bulbs do. Like anything else, general purpose things dont usually work well for specific use, and lights are really no different.
The battery issue really isnt an issue if your using the light specifically as a SD type, or need specific light. They dont get used all that much, and the lithium batteries last a very long time. The biggest problem with a lot of these type lights is, the button/switch isnt protected, and the light comes on in your pocket and drains the battery. Another plus for the Scorpion, the button is protected, so they rarely come on in your pocket.
The barrel is also fully rubber encased, so its comfortable to put in your teeth, and you can work the button with your tongue too.
If your P220 has a rail, you may want to give a weapons mounted light some more thought too. They really do work well. They dont replace the hand held either, they all work together as a package, and give you more options.
