Hi
I have a P229 and a P226 BWT and I have noticed some weight cut out in the slide (back of the slide) in three spots.

My P229 is from 97 and does not have this (beefier caliber)..

anyone have an opinion on this?

Is SIG doing this on all P226's as of late?

Thanks

i gather that your 229 is likely chambered in .40?

the 9mm Sig slides in 9mm have always been lighter than their .40 or 357Sig conterparts...this would be especially obvious in the 229 slides

Cool thanks..its been a pleasure to shoot thus far ( the new P226 )...but the slide cut outs were kinds odd.

was thinking originally it was to balance the gun better..

Before I left home this morning I checked the stainless slide on my current production X-5 Tac 9mm. It has more cutouts than the slide in the pic.

See the little cut on the lower right on your slide? Mine has that one and two that size above it. The long one to the lower left on mine doesn't go nearly as far to the rear, but it's still large. It's hard to tell from the pic, but some of the cutouts on my slide appear to be deeper too.

I figured they were all milled like mine. It's the first SIG I've owned.
