what are the pros and cons of the DAK trigger system and the regular DA/SA trigger? i noticed that the DAK was cheaper also.

I'm a n00b, so take my ramblings for what they cost you, BUT, I bought my p229 DAK because:

1. My other gun is a S&W 642 (DAO), and I like the idea of the similarity (trigger, safeties)
2. Same trigger pull (sorta) every time for consistency and simplicity
3. No decocker for me means simplicity, one less thing to forget
4. No SA might decrease the odds of a "hair trigger" claim by a retarded DA

I love it. Now that I've taken it to the range 4-5 times, #2 in the list is why I would buy DAK again.

It depends on your intended use. I have SIGs in both DA/SA and DAK. Personally, I like DAO, a.k.a., DAK for personal defense. However, I find the the long re-set to be a drawback in the DAK compared with the LEM trigger of the HK P30, or striker-fired S&W M&Ps.

Like EOD Guy in VA mentions, DAK is better for defensive shooting. With DA/SA, if you forget to decock (it happens), you have a very light trigger pull that can be dangerous during reholstering.

However, DA/SA will be slightly better for target shooting because of the fact that the light, short, SA trigger pull is more conducive to better accuracy.
