Does anyone have any experience with this particular model? A friend bought one in 2010 and is looking to sell it. He's asking $520 for it. It comes with 3 mags, night sights, Short Reset Trigger and I believe a "Nitron" coating - whatever that means. Does this sound like a reasonable price? Is this model up to par with the original? Sigs have just never felt good in my hands but for some reason the E2 seems to fit better than anything else (for me) including my 1911s. All opinions are appreciated.

Good price... They are $800 guns with night sites and 2 mags. The E2 grip is a slimmer and its one piece design is a love it or hate it thing.

Lots of old school guys are not fans. I have considered changing my older W German to the E2 but I it requires more than just a grip change.

The E2 is the current production gun out of Exeter. Some people including myself prefer the older guns. No MIM, carbon steel slide etc... but the current Sigs are still solid guns and for $510 you should run not walk. IMHO

Thanks for the opinion. I just looked at the gun more closely and there is an E2 stamped on the slide. I don't see this on the guns on the Sig website. It may not matter..

I will wait for a few more opinions then hopefully I will snatch it up :)

Tell your friend to email me and I will take it and pay for shipping ;)

In all seriousness, I would love to have a P226, and I really like the E2

That's because Sig has quit making the specific E2 model, but made the E2 grips, short trigger, and SRT the "standard" features on the base model.

As rellascout mentioned the E2 grips are different, smaller with more of a cut-in(?) on the back of the grip, that feels different and may not be everyone's cup of tea.

I won't get into the German versus Exeter thing, but $520 seems like a great price even for a U.S made P226 - if that doesn't matter to you - especially with 3 mags and NS and if it is in good shape.

That's coming from one of those who prefers the old German Sigs.

Thanks guys. I just finalized the deal and picked it up. I don't think he wanted to admit it but from what I can tell it appears to have never been fired.

The E2 was a limited run of Sigs to test the waters...it was popular enough to justify introduction to the main line...and the E2 line was discontinued

I prefer the prior grips, but many found them too large. My issues were the thin trigger (over compresses my trigger finger) and the grips (forces the hand too low)...I'm also not a fan of the SRT, but it is a personal, as opposed to an objective, bias

That was a great price. I recently saw a LNIB SIG P-229E2 with the Nitron finish, SRT, night sights, and three mags. The asking price was somewhere around $700. I had an older P226 that seemed a bit large in terms of the grips, especially for someone with smaller sized hands. I really liked the newer style E2 grips and think they would make for a very comfortable grip.

Got it home now and can't wait to shoot it. I can't believe I didn't know about this grip sooner - it's as is if it's made for MY hand. I may have to retire the G17.
