Have a chance to get a new pistol 25% off list price.

Is this a good deal and is the weapon as good as or better than the Sig M11-A1?

No sig haters please. Thank you.

P229 is a fine pistol. Unless you're a SEAL, it will serve you just as well as a fancy M11, and even they would not be ill equipped with the more pedestrian version.
Strangely, the 229 is one of the only classic Sigs Ive never had, but they all follow the same pattern. You will love it!

The M11-A1 is basically a 9mm P229 with no rail, phosphated internals, and SRT standard, so yes, the P229 is as good as the M11-A1. If you are actually talking about a P229 Legacy, then it will have an old-school Legacy slide that has the short external extractor and the half-height serrations. A P229 Legion will have the long extractor, full-height serration slide along with a Grayguns P-SAIT trigger.

THANKS ALL. It is a P229 Legacy. I decudednot to buy the weapon. It is a DA only plus it didn't feel that comfortable the second time around. I have the P227 and my son gave me his P320 compact because he got frustrated with the the sights. I'm a 45 - 1911 person since that's what I carried in the service and had to in Nam. I did carry a M-16 also and happy that I did.

I'll and get what I originally planned either the SPFLD RO in 9mm or #2 the M11-A1 for steel challenge... Just started shooting it after years of paper shooting. I do notice I'm one of two shooting 45 single stack and we two are Nam vets. Wonder why.... The price was just a good deal. Another young man overheard the conversation and bought it.

Have a good day.

I can understand your attachment to the 1911 platform as that was my favorite semi-auto back in the day. But over the years I have tried several different DA/SA pistols and while some were not a good fit for me, the SIG P226/P228/P229 were. Great ergonomics, reliable performance, and a DA/SA trigger I could shoot well with. Finally settled in with a SIG P229R because I wanted a rail to mount a light on it for home defense.
