I am trying to decide between these two guns.

According to the stats on the Sig and Colt websites, the Sig P238 weighs in at 15 ounces and the Colt at about 12 ounces. What explains the three ounce difference? Both have approximately same barrel length and both have alloy frames.

Also, the most important thing to me is going to be reliability. I have never been real lucky at getting small guns to work 100% of the time. Which do you think has the best chance of being reliable?

Which is most accurate?

Is there anything else I need to know?

Thanks!

The weight difference might be how they're weighed. Some manufacturers leave the mag out when they weigh them. They both have a good reputation for reliability. I owned both and had no problems. The Sig has better sights.

My friend bought a SIG 238, we took it to the range and put 50 rounds of federal range ammo through it. Followed it up with 50 herters brass 90 grain, then 50 PMC brass. Next 20 rounds of Hornady critical defense. All but 1 round of herters, which was obviously not sized right as it wouldn't go into battery, went through it flawlessly. I'm a small guy 5'7" 130 he's a big guy 6'1" 220. We both liked it, I would definitely trust it as a ccw piece. It's the first micro gun I had shot that didn't have teething problems and I have shot many, own a few myself. I have never shot a brand new mustang, so I can't comment on that. I am going out on a limb and saying the SIG is 100% reliable with good defense ammo.

if you're going to pay top dollar for a micro pistol, the Colt doesn't offer very good sights for the money. i'm partial to the P238, but until Colt offers the same bonus features (ie. night sights), i'm sticking with Sig.

My P238 has also been flawless and a pleasure to shoot compared to other pocket 380 pistols.

I highly recommend it.

I can't compare reliability or accuracy between the two, I own the Sig but I've only handled the Colt in gunstores.

My P238 has been reliable and accurate since day 1, I trust mine.

I haven't heard anything bad about the Mustangs, and I might have bought one if they were available back when I bought my P238. But they weren't, so I went with Sig and never looked back.

The 238's and 938's might be the worst gun I have had the misfortune to work on. The only thing the Sig has on the Colt is much more useable sights. In terms of build quality, quality of materials used and the chance of your gun running right out of the box, Colt wins hands down.

The sights aren't even really that big of an issue. This is a mouse gun used for up close and personal ranges.

Get the Colt. Sig is turning out quite the lemon as of late.

I have shot a old mustang pocket light and the p238 a decent amount.

The sig had vastly better sights.

The trigger pull on the mustang was better than any p238 I've shot, save one with a teigger job. The p238 trigger could be better.

The mustang is a better looking gun.

I've not shot super high round counts out of either (these are guns that are best used as bugs and I've gone more towards the kahr Cm/pm 9 guns that are the same size) but both have been reliable.

Dollar for dollar the sigs seem to be a better value. The fact colt is making a polymer frame gun that cost notably more than a sig with night sifts and two mags can be had for is just silly.
