My father and I went to the gun show to look at some options for a pistol for him. I recommended some of the standards, but he wants to keep the price down in the economy range. He was looking at the s&w sigmas, and then we came across the sig p250 in 9mm and 40sw. They were selling for $339. I am a big fan of sig's, but I am totally unfamiliar with this entry-level model. What do you guys think of it?

No experience with them but in my searching I did look into them a little. I found that it failed many law enforcement tests and in general that has gave it a bad name. On the other hand I have read a lot of good reviews on it from people who have bought it. Also it is Double Action only compare to DA/SA of other SIGs which for me I prefer the DA/SA but that's not a deal breaker either in my book for the right price.

I like mine. Long trigger pull, but one of the smoothest in an auto I've used, and it's actually pretty light. It's not had a FTF or FTE in the 300 or so rounds I've put through it, and I think the grip is very comfortable, which aids in overcoming the long trigger pull. Practice with it, and you'll be very accurate. Overall, I really like it.

Personally, I feel the SIG SP2022 is a far superior offering compared to the P250. They can be found for around $350.

I almost bought the subcompact P250 a couple of days ago. It pretty much fit my preferences. I like the simplicity of DAO and no safety to fiddle with in a pistol for concealed carry. The trigger pull was very long which I liked(I'm more comfortable with a little more margin of error than the typical striker-fired trigger, YMMV.) Left-handed friendly. Decent capacity for a pistol of its thickness. Short grip but still long enough to get a good grasp on it. Was comfortable in hand and felt like it would be comfortable to shoot. The P250 subcompact is pretty much in the same size range as the Ruger SR9 compact and S&W M&P9 compact.

I was ultimately scared off by the failed law enforcement trials. The Dutch government cancelled its order just this month, so I'm wondering if there are still problems with the second generation P250's. I may end up with one yet, but I've decided to wait and see how things shake out.

In the meantime I've cheaped out and ordered a Cerakoted Kel-Tec P11. The P250 trigger is light years better than the P11's, and I'm sure the P250's recoil would be much less. I may end up regretting this purchase, but at least I already have several magazines for it since my S&W 5904 magazines will also work in the P11. Looking forward to giving the P11 a try. Some people do like it.

I have a P250 subcompact in 9mm with night sights...nice piece; so far @ 500 rounds thru it without any malfunctions; good accuracy...more accurate than me, but I am improving

I have a Full Size .45 and it is just a pleasure to shoot.
Never had a single malfunction.
Those that claim it shoots low probably haven't gotten used to the trigger yet. I found my gun to shoot to poa from the start.
I plan on getting the other calibers for backup in case of a shortage of my primary caliber.
I have been a long time owner of P220s in various sizes but for me, this is the best Sig yet.
All of the quality, lighter weight, just as accurate, simplified design, great price. I paid $373 online from Buds Gun Shop
I find it so amazing that there is no love from so many other Sig owners for what is the most innovative gun design since the 1911.
If you spend enough time with any gun you can be very effective with it. Long live the P250 :D

I have a compact one in .40S&W, nice little gun that's easy to shoot. Only complaint is the trigger reset is long. Trigger pull is fine, but the reset takes a little getting used to for faster follow-up shots. For the money it's a great pistol.

Love P250

I love the P 250 I have the 45 full size and 45 compact.
Great trigger, this coming from a big DAO revolver guy.
Thousands of rounds no problems, the more you shoot the P250 the more you love it.
