Sig P250

Just ordered one after a lot of research. Of the ones I had dried fired, the full size feels great and balanced in my hand, and the trigger pull isn't bad.

Many people complain about the trigger pull and quality issues. But I have read a lot of good reviews on it also.

I'll let you know how it goes at the range.

I have the p250c in 40 S&W with the .357 Sig barrel.
It has a long trigger pull (smooth, but long), other than that, I like mine. I have fired a few hundred rounds through it with zero malfunctions.

The quality issues were in the first generation. The second gen p250s (I think the switch was sometime in the middle of 2010?) seem to be fine. I'm about to get one of the 2sum's in 9mm. I used one at sig when taking a training course. I didn't mind the DAO trigger (personal preference).

I have a sig P250 as my concealed carry. Love it. Agree the trigger takes getting used to, it is super smooth but long. It feels like the long pull would generate unecessary gun movement but at the range I find it very accurate almost against logic. Sig knows what they are doing. Even when I practice drawing and shooting I often surprise myself vs. other guns. Never had a malfunction.

Have to say in not a fan of the shiny diamond plate.

dispatch 510, just curious, what didn't you like about the Sig P250? Was it at the range firing one or just handling one? Full size, compact, or sub compact? Ergonomics, balance, or (eh hem) trigger pull?

Thanks for the info!

I too have been considering one of these guns. I was wondering since they don't seem to be popular (at least on the web forums) if they are not reliable or plain just don't feel like a sig gun usually does. Is it easy to change platforms I saw the demo on youtube or some were and it didn't look too bad to do.

I am sure it's a great gun, but make sure you handle one before you buy one. I'm not sure I can adequately describe it, but it feels different, and to me, a little awkward. The trigger is OK, but something about the balance of the gun and the strange hammer makes it almost seem like a fake gun. Just make sure you're comfortable with the feel before you buy.

People say glocks feel like fake guns too but they sure aren't. :)

Part of their popularity problem was logistics from Sig. People got excited about the modular possibilities in changing calibers an grips and bought them, but the kits had major delays for some reason and they never caught on. You can find one for under $400 now.

This is actually heavier than a Glock. I have a compact (mid size). I would try to find a way to shoot it first. I agree there is something awkward in just Handling, but when you shoot it, it will surprise you.

I traded off a Mini-14 for a 9mm subcompact recently. I knew I was taking a bit of a gamble with it, but I really like mine. My first trip out to the range with it, I was putting all my shots in an 8" circle at 15 yards while shooting at a decent pace, about a shot every second. I did have one stovepipe out of 50 rounds, but I partially blame it on it being brand new and the fact that I was using aluminum case Blazer ammo, but I've got a lot more trigger time I have to put behind it before I swap it out for my current CC. The trigger pull feels natural to me coming from shooting a lot of double action revolvers, and I really like the option to convert it to different calibers and sizes for a relatively decent price.

I haven't heard the reliability piece. I've seen reviews of guys putting thousands of rounds through In competitions without problems. I see sight issues (can't change rear sight) trigger comfort problems but never reliability.

The FAMs absolutely did drop the P250 due to reliability problems in the field, marine 97-03. I personally know a FAM in the DC area that expounded upon this to me (he also let me shoot his issue P250 and I did NOT like it a bit, just like him) and there is also this from Pistol-Training. They went back to their beloved 226s and 229s.

Thanks for sharing the link. I am still wondering what reliability issues there were specifically. You mentioned you didn't like it, and the comment made by the Official sites reliability and then slams Sig. Sounds like there were negotiation problems or something. The comments on the article from owners of the 250 are positive.

Did your friend say specifically what was hindering reliability?

The best of the Sig line would be 220 full size. Since they are of the thick gun variety , might as well get the .45 ACP .

Now with E2 grips too. Hoping to check.those out tomorrow.

I have a 1st gen 9mm P250 compact duo-tone (not Bubba Tone-lol) Anyway, I like it. No reliability problems. It was my first handgun. I've shot about 500-700 rounds through it...no problems. The "issue" with the first gens doesn't seem to have appeared in mine.
I called Sig's customer service in summer of 2010 & they told me they updated the Gen 1 b/c it's rail are different from the other guns (made it sound like a manufacturing/efficiency fix), but they said I had to replace my floorboard on the mags b/c that style isn't compatible. Maybe that's PR talk. Either way, my gun has been great either way.
