Hey all,
I've been a long time reader of this forum, and have found some very helpful tips here. I figure this was the place to go for a rather pressing question.
I stopped by my local gun store yesterday and found hanging on the wall a couple of Sig Sauer 5.56 rifles. I thought "hey, those look kinda cool" so I asked if I could take a look at them.
I fell in love.
Now here's where it gets tricky. I get home and log on to do more research, and discover that Sig is currently offering a $300 rebate for any new 5.56 purchased from a retailer. Until 3/8 (this coming monday).
Normally, when buying a new rifle (or any firearm), I take my time, look around, shop around a bit, even see if I can find someone who owns one so I can try it out. I think long and hard to make sure that it's a purchase I will be happy with.
I found a dealer (budsgunshop.com) that has a new Sig 5.56 for $1250 before the rebate, so $950 afterwards. I have a couple friends, two brothers one of which works at a gunshop of his own, who have made a couple good purchases from this site and have had great experiences. I've already confirmed that purchasing the rifle from there is eligible for the rebate (if I get it in time). Which makes this an absolute steal, from everything I've heard. If it wasn't such a good deal, I would wait and take my time, but this might be just too good to pass up.
So here's my question: what are your opinions on the Sig 5.56? Also, if anyone happens to know about this rebate, do you know if I need to purchase it and have the FFL transfer done by the 8th, or just the actual purchase (I know they need a copy of the 4473 form to send in with the rebate, but does it have to have the same time stamp on it)?
Any thoughts and comments are appreciated. I hate rushing into buying a rifle, but I have a feeling I'll be kicking myself in a couple months if I don't.
Thank you all,
~Lima
