Sig Sauer p220 is this a good deal?

My local dealer has some Sig Sauer p220s .45 cal for sale at $399 they are Police Trade ins. They also come with two mags. Would you stay away from them? And if not what should I look out for?...Russ

Good grief -- I've been wanting a P220 for months!!!!!
 
That's an awesome deal, but I would be weary. Look them over really well. Police Officers are well known for not taking care of their service pistols.
The good thing about the Police trade-ins is that the majority of them have been shot very little, but they have a lot of holster wear.

well here in Houston, I have seen it sold for 450.
I usually buy locally because I can see the condition.
 
I hate to bring up the rear, but I too, would like to know the dealer's name. I have two P series SIG's, including a nickel 1996 P220, and they are great guns.

EAJ - have you or anybody else ever ordered from Express Police Supply? That's a nice price on the P226.........

No, sorry, I haven't. It was advertised in their weekly (email) sales circular. I would purchase one, but prefer the 9mm and already own 3 P226's.
 
That is an excellent price for a 220.

We had a police supply house that was selling the 226 9mm for $399 (remember this is in CA), but when they sold out the LGSs were selling the same gun for $450. The 229 is going for $479 and the 220 for over $500

You can't go wrong with a LE trade-in 220 for less than $400...unless you get the one belonging to the rare officer who actually practiced...most will only have holster wear
 
I've just sold my XDM, so I think I'm going to take the plunge an order a P229 40 from Express Police Supply. I just emailed them and retired military qualifies for their first responder price, so I might have to check out their new Sig's.............
 
Vance's is in Columbus Ohio. They got a whole bunch of I was told State Patrol guns recently. I bought my P220 there. It helps to go in person and select, some have more wear than others. I would have no problems dealing with them, they are the biggest/best priced gunstore in Columbus.
They did have these in the store for $449 with three mags, I guess this was a special deal.

The thing to watch for is wear on the frame rails; Sigs like some wet lube there or you can gall the aluminum rails. Mine was a German made 1996 model with slight holster wear and like-new inside.
