I was at a local store today and ran into the following gun:

Pistol: Sig-Sauer P220, .45 acp, 8+1 round capacity
Condition: Sig-Sauer re-certified and fully warrantied, with box, manual, extra magazine. Minor holster wear. Was probably pre-owned by a police officer and traded in.
Price: $535 + tax + background check = $572.10 out the door.

I asked them to put a hold on it for me today. I'm really tempted to buy this because I've had my eyes open for a quality .45. I'm especially attracted to the quality of a Sig and the re-certification/warranty. A few scratches and some warn bluing don't bother me on a good gun.

Is the price good? Should I got for it or should I hold out for a better deal on a .45?

I voted Yes

Because around here that IS a good deal. I don't know what prices are like by you, so take it with a grain o' salt. NIB around here you are looking at $850-$950 for a SIG220.

You mention holster wear - is this a 'new' CPO model? Or a former CPO model that is now being sold as used?

A 'new' CPO pistol should look brand new, as these are reconditioned at the factory. Does it have the Sig band around the grip?

By price it sounds normal.

HA! It's not even close. 13 "Yes!" and one "Meh...", and I was the "Meh..." vote! I'm starting to think this is no longer an impulse buy, but rather a well thought out decision. I guess when I come back I'll be in the SIG club. See ya soon.

I got this one:

For $539 plus shipping from Ordnance Outsellers. It's a CPO.

If the one in the shop doesn't look this good, pass. If it does, then it's a good deal.

You can always find them in excellent condition if you know where to look.

Hello

Not to gloat, but I picked up a used 220 with night sights and one mag for $373.00 out the door last weekend. I only paid $680 out the door for my 220 ST Nitron brand new.
Your price seems high to me.
Good luck.

Sig p220 are my substitute since i do not like 1911's. The Sig p220 has been an excellent weapon. I have had alot of them and never a problem even with reloads. They perform just as good as a 1911 without the beaver tail safety.

I might be willing to part with mine,it has holster wear I bought it used.
might trade for xd-45 tactical or $420 cash

I voted YES, and can only say great things about a P220..

If it was factory refurbished, it's like a new gun, as they replace anything they see, as the Sig gunsmiths are perfectionist, IMO, and if I'm not mistaken, they refinish the Nitron finish, and frame if needed. I mean, does the gun not look fresh?

Enjoy,

LS

Well, I did vote yes, but the price is only fair. I picked up a used 220 for $425 not too long ago and see them for under $500 around Seattle. Of course I see them for a lot more in some shops too.
If you like it, buy it. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I voted "meh", but that's only because I don't get the Sig allure. If you like the way the Sig 22X series feels, handles and shoots, then knock yourself out. By all accounts they're great guns.

Just saw a 220 CPO that looked new in a local shop. It was $510. I think I'd rather have the assurance of a CPO with a Sig warranty than take a risk for the same money on something being wrong with the gun. Take it down to $500 and, if it's pristine, then OK I'd consider it.
