Sig-Sauer P220, problem?

i own two sig p220st's, and i just had a simple question. there seems to be a little bit of lateral play in the takedown levers going across the frame, and one p220 has a bit more play than the other one. the size of the holes for the takedown levers have not increased, or been marred in any way. i was just wondering if this was normal? my older p220st(pre-rail) has less lateral play than my newer p220st(railed). by lateral play, i mean than that the takedown levers moves laterally in the frame a tiny bit. it's held in the frame by a little spring that also functions as a spring for the slide release lever. it's not as if the takedown levers rattle in the frame, but they do move. should i be worried?

edited to change p220st to p220 because i realize that there are a lot more p220 owners out there than p220st owners, and the nature of my perceived problem could be present in both models, and i want input of all p220 owners regardless of alloy or stainless framed guns.

There are only two main problems with the P220ST, and that you just mentioned ain't it.

The two main problems are 1) never can get enough magazines 2) never can get enough ammo.

Enjoy your gun.

thanks guys.

thanks for the info, f4t9r and black majik. and for other owners of p220's, does your guys' p220 exhibit the same type of minimal lateral play in the takedown lever as described in my post?

Do you mean when the weapon is field stripped or assembled? I just checked mine and its rock solid while assembled. However I did not field strip it to see if it moves while disassembled.

i meant while assembled.

like i said, the movement is a lateral one, going across the frame, while assembled. so p220st_guy, the takedown lever on your piece has absolutely no lateral movement at all? try this: hold your gun with your right hand. place your left thumb on the takedown lever. place your your left middle finger on the non-lever side of the takedown lever. now put alternately put pressure on the lever with your thumb, and then put pressure on the non-lever side with your middle finger. is there absolutely no movement at all? i think there should be a minimal amount of lateral play. gosh, i hope i explained that right.

geez, no interest in this thread i guess.

where's ala dan and cslinger when you need them?

My 220ST

My takedown bar is pretty snug but will move from shooters right to left if you push it away from the frame. I usually push it that way when I take her down so I dont scratch the frame. That is about all the lateral movement I get from my pistol.

HTHs!

You are correct. Mine also has very slight side to side movement when doing what you described. My guess would be that its normal.

Mine is an early 1994 production model and it had no movement at first when I just tried it, but after pushing on it a bit I managed to get maybe 1/64th of an inch movement. It doesn't seem significant to me.

Regards,
Rabbit.
