I acquired a Sig SP2022 in 9mm a while back in a trade for a Norinco SKS. I have been taking it to the range at least twice a month and have grown to absolutely love this pistol. It is a polymer framed mid size model that is DA/SA with the decocker and an oversized slide release similar to the HK models. However some random people have asked me what kind of Sig it is and when I tell them it is a polymer frame they just kind of snub their nose at it. I recently went with my father in law to the range and he also owns a Sig 229 I beleive. I pulled it out and showed it to him and he said "I didn't know Sig made a polymer pistol" and kind of chuckled. We proceeded to take our shots and after a few mags I convinced him to try the SP2022. After the first shot he stopped and asked did you have a trigger job done on this? I told him no that it was the factory trigger, and he told me it was nicer than his Sig. Then he asked me how much I paid for it and I told him half of w hat you paid for yours lol. A week later he sent me a text with a pic and he picked one up for himself lol. I personally think this is an under rated pistol and is one of the best I have owned over Glocks, Springfields, FNH, and the Beretta 92 I have. Does anyone else have one of these, and do you enjoy it as much as I do?

Thanks.

Does anyone else have one of these...
Yup - back when I bought my first one, it was a hidden jewel (apparently, still is).

My first one had 3 magazines and two backstraps - by the time I bought my second, they had cut it to 2 magazines and 1 backstrap (both have night sights).

My first one was bought to replace my old Sigma as my bed gun - the Sigma's night sights needed replacing, so I used that money towards the purchase of the SP2022.

One of 'em now resides beside my bed with a Streamlight laser / light combo.

It's also easier to practice dry firing with the SP2022 than with the old Sigma - no racking the slide each time.

I have one in 9mm and love it too. Hard to beat for the money. People who turn their noses up to the P250's are Sig fans, if they turn their noses up to an SP2022 they are just dumb.

SP2022 is a SWEET pistol. I love mine also. One of the best poly frame hammer fired pistols there is regardless of price. However magazines are a bit hard to find and pricy.

I have one in 9mm. and like it a lot.
They were originally made for the French police, and as a result we get them at a great price because all the machinery needed to make them was paid for by the French Police contracts.
They have a nice trigger and many like it for that.
Of course it IS a Sig ....what's not to like??

Very underrated pistol. It's being used heavily by law enforcement around the world. I've handled them a lot, and am very impressed. It's a solidly built firearm, and I like the weight. Sig does DA well, and SA is hard to screw up, so the trigger isn't going to get in the user's way.

I just picked mine up last week after a two month wait due to the flood of guns being bought here in Maryland. (New restrictive gun laws just passed here in the People's Republic) Anyway, I haven't gotten it to the range yet but hope to next week. It is solidly built.

Glad you're enjoying yours.

The more you shoot it, the better it gets. A great gun at a great price. I ordered mine with factory night sights, and use it as a range demo for newbies - it's a nice alternative to the Glocks that have overrun my collection. It resides in my HD locker.

People probably scoff at it because when they think of a polymer SIG the P250 comes to mind, and that gun is absolutely a piece of crap. The SP2022 is very underrated and often overlooked. I've wanted one in 9mm for a long time but never got one because I actually picked up a P226 for cheaper than I could've gotten the SP2022. But if I ever run across one I will snatch it up to replace my P226 for CCW seeing how the SP is slightly smaller and lighter. I like that it has the same manual of arms as the classic P22x-series SIGs, which are my favorite pistols after 1911s.

I've bought two. Gave one as a gift and traded another for an ANIB 5906, knowing full well I plan to buy another when prices drift back down a little. I love em, but mostly I love the price.

What a great pistol!
Simple Sig reliability. This gun eats anything without hesitation. If you like sig this is a maybe gun. If you like great quality and top shelf value this is a must have pistol IMO.
Magazines are expensive and hard to come across, but most are these days. Add one mag to the 'standard' price and you're a good $80- $100 below glock gen 3 prices without the noted flaws.
Sig really nailed this one. It's kind of a gateway to all things sig and what makes a sig a sig without the a premium.

Hey, mine replaced my old Sigma as my bed gun - I can tell ya of scoffing!

I give the SP2022 critics as much credence as I gave the Sigma haters.

Some folks just gotta hate...

I bought a used SP2022 about a year ago. German made, triple serial number, 2 mags, Ifalon finish, night sights, two backstraps, and the case for $450. The pistol shoots great and has all the Sig features that I like. You really can't find a better bargain. I hear the American made ones are just as good. Can't go wrong with a Sig.

Get on Top Gun Supply's list for SIG Pro mags. Two weeks ago they had Mec-Gar 17 rounders for $31 (limit to 2). These mags look better than factory magazines and function just as well.

EDIT: TGS also has threaded barrels for 2022's!

Probably the same ones who look at a RIA 1911 & claim "For a little more you coulda had a Kimber."

Oh... the 2022 in nine? I bought the wife one and liked it so much I bought one for me. Got 'em for $399 a pop. Don't know of a better deal.

Is it me or did these just make a big jump in price?

My friend just shot mine today and now he wants one. We hit 2 shops today and both LGS had them pegged at $569. Regular pre scare prices were on all other offerings. We're talking gen 3 g19 at $529 & gen 4 at $569. I paid $399 for mine.

Looks like the worlds best kept firearms secret is no longer a secret:what:

The last one my local shop sold (9mm) was $475.
The replacement (40S&W) is over $500, but I don't remember how much over ($525, $575?).
I assume the 9mm and 40 sell for the same price?

If so, looks like they have gone up in price?

Hard to tell with my local shop, as he's always getting multiple purchase deals from distributors etc, which he passes on to the customer.

Yeah they used to be $400-$450 guns. Now I am seeing them for $500-$575, but that might just be panic prices.

I hope it's just the panic because a local guy has one for sale in 9mm but is asking $850. I don't know what the heck he is thinking. There's no way I'm paying over 5 bills for one. No point in even trying to talk someone down on a price like that.

Maybe he mistook it for a P226? $500 and under is the sweet spot for polymer pistols in my opinion...

I sell ya one nowhere near that price.

I picked up a used one for $299 last year and it came with 3 mags. Nice gun. Very accurate and reliable. I eventually decided to sell it because I acquired a new Sig P229 Stainless Elite. As nice as the 2022 was the P229 Elite was SO good (particularly the trigger) that I couldn't justify having both. However, if I was looking for a double action Polymer gun on a budget or not the 2022 would be on the top of my list. To me it's on par with the Beretta Px4 which I like just a tiny bit more but not by much.
