SIG SP2022

I own a SIG P226 and have shot several other SIG pistols. In my experience, they have all been outstanding firearms. I do not know very much about the SIG SP 2022. I assume it is a reliable and quality firearm. I don't think the folks at SIG would let anything out of their shop if it wasn't. Has anybody here had any experience with the SP 2022? Tell me a little about it.

I bought one in .40 S&W back in the end of June, so I haven't had it all that long. I've put maybe 100 rounds through it, and it has been sitting there waiting for me to shoot it some more, but time is tight for a lot of things right now.

It seems to be very well made, and I have not had any failures with it yet. It fits my hand well, and I have very big hands. The ladies of the household are not completely thrilled with it, preferring my CZ 75 P-01, which is significantly smaller. I wish I could give you some more insight on it, but I think I need to spend some more time with it for that. I can say I would buy it again, at least at this point.

One more thing, if you are considering it for CCW. I alternate between the CZ mentioned above and a S&W .357 wheelgun, both being smaller and lighter than the Sig. That may change with winter coming, and it will fit into the same pocket holster I have for the CZ (DeSantis Nemesis), but for now I don't want to risk losing my drawers in public.

I looked at my manual last night. This is the thing that is slightly confusing to me. The gun says SP 2022 on it, and I found a number of references to it on the web when I bought it. In the manual though, it lists two model numbers for three calibers. The 9mm version is listed as the SP2009, and the .357 Sig and .40 S&W are listed as the SP 2340. And, while this may be obvious to anyone else, according to the manual, I can buy a barrel and change my .40 into a .357 Sig. Everything else, including the magazine, is interchangeable. This does not hold true for the 9mm version.

I think the SIG quality is also found in the SP polymer pistol line. I sell
quite a few of 'em, and NONE have ever came back in for repairs~!

The 2340 is a .40 AND 357 SIG - all it needs is a change of barrel. Mags work for both.

I had one and here are my findings. The gun points naturally low in my hand and others who shot it. The bottom of the magazine and grip would pinch my hand when fired.(not a deal breaker for defense but anoying at the range). The slide would not completly close if slowly let forward (again not a deal breaker but anoying when admiring the gun at home.) The gun did however have the best trigger I have ever owned and I've heard the same from other Sig owners. Da was smoother than any S&W revo and the SA was better than any 1911 no joke. In fact it was kind of scary as it went off a few times at the range before I was ready! It was a very nice gun however never a hiccup with any crappy ammo I fed it.

got a chance to shoot one for the first time yesterday. very nice shooting gun. the double action was as smooth as i have ever shot in an auto and the SA was very nice. thanks for the input.
