So I've recently been bitten by the SIG bug and now I am interested in the SIG 2022 specifically but interested if anyone has had first hand experience with these guns? please help me make an informed decision in general I'm a big fan of composite guns. I have and still do own several variations of Glock , Springfield, and H&K. so what I'm really asking is: did SIG compromise their reputation to join the ranks of poly-composite gunmakers.

I just got back from the range and had a chance to shoot another SigForum member's SP2022 in .40 S&W. I must say that it is a very accurate and soft shooting pistol. I thought the slightly lighter weight would make the recoil more noticeable but that was not the case. You may want to hold off before buying an SP2022 since Sig has the new P250 coming out later this year. I haven't had a chance to read much about it, but it is in the July issue of Guns & Ammo. I'm a huge fan of their classic P-series and wouldn't mind taking the P250 for a spin when it comes out.

The P250 isn't exactly new. It has been available in Europe for years. You should be able to find some reviews if you look hard enough.

True, but from what I've been reading it's supposed to be changed from the European version. How much I don't know. Although they're not delivering till September, so it might be a little while.

You may want to venture over to the SIG forum. There is a group of members over there that are vocal in their love for the plastic SIGs. As has been mentioned, the P250 will be available in this country around the September timeframe. If you are patient, it looks to have some very creative features.

To answer your question, the plastic sigs have not had the popularity of the classic sig line for some reason. My friend, who has one, was very positive in his comments about it. Accurate, reliable, easy to disassemble were all traits he mentioned.

I've owned an SP 2022 for just about a year now. I cannot compare it to other Sigs since it is the only Sig I own, but I can say it is a very nice pistol. It is accurate and reliable for me, and I probably shoot better with it than just about any of the others I own right now.

It is big. The grip is larger than any of my other pistols. I am comparing it to a Springfield XD45, Taurus PT145 Mil Pro, and a CZ 75 P-01. I don't really count the Kel Tec. :D I have what most people consider to be very large hands, and I find the Sig to feel better with the smaller of the two backstraps that come with it.

Crimson Trace makes a laser for it, although I have not purchased it. Since I got into the .45s, I am not shooting it like I used to. Still, I cannot think of anything negative to say about it. It takes down easily and has been very reliable. I have not put thousands of round through it - more like hundreds, but I have only had one stovepipe, and I think that was probably my fault.

I don't know if there is much more I can tell you, but if you think of any other questions, I will be glad to try and answer them.

Own 5 SIG's in total - of them, the Pro is the most accurate and has the best trigger. If it's just as reliable, yet cheaper, what's not to love?

The SIG snobs who dismiss anything that isn't "a classic P series" are idiots, plain and simple.

2022 .40

I've been shooting one for about a year now. I think it's a great pistol. It somehow shoots softer than my other Sigs. Very reliable.
